Well, hope you did well on your practical! And as for deciding which career path you want to take, I hope you find out what you want to do!

I hope I did well too. :p I don't...really want to be a nurse, I think, but...it's what my mother's gunning for. I know at 19 I can "make my own decisions", but I can't afford to move out and she'll make my life ****. So...I can make it through nursing school, I think. I'm stubborn.

I can totally relate! At 17, my dad directed me toward my major (Business MIS) and payed for school as long as I went to his school of choice (SJSU). Now, at 31, I'm pursuing nursing. My #1 motivations are my husband and kids. Whether or not it will be a good-fit for me as far as career choice remains to be seen--that's what practicals are for right? :p Sometimes you have to make other people happy before you find happiness for yourself. So, for now choose the path of least resistance. :) Who knows? You may end up loving nursing!

Somedays I hope I do, some days I hope I won't (fall in love with nursing). I've sworn for YEARS that I'd never become a nurse, and after school, there are only two areas I want to work in - PICU or NICU. It helps that I know two NICU nurses, and my mom's boss's wife is the charge nurse at the hospital closest to my house. :p I know it may change during school, but really...I'm not super-comfortable with adult patients, which is gonna make clinicals rough, but I've got a really good support system of friends I can vent to - one in particular may not truly understand anything [he's a CS major], but he'll always make the effort to understand and help me out.

My biggest problem is that I take things pretty seriously - I can joke around with people that I'm comfortable with, but otherwise...I take things pretty seriously and I'm easy to upset. I also get flustered pretty quickly and get embarrassed over everything - I'm a pretty emotional human being. That is the hardest aspect of going to nursing, I think. Plus I hate a lot of my classmates. So many of them are so uppity that it's so incredibly annoying. Several are convinced that since /they're/ going to be /nurses/ it makes them a step up above the rest of us losers. Almost all of them are my age (19) and several are older, 25+ish. It just makes me laugh how pathetic some of them are (no offense to them, but if they're insisting on flouting their career choice, it's pathetic).

I think for me it's kind of become a consensus that I'll go to nursing school, support myself, get out of my house into an apartment, then go back to school to get a bachelors in order to go to some kind of graduate school. To be honest, I'd rather jump off a cliff than go into human medicine. I considered it briefly, but...it's not my thing. I'd like to go into veterinary medicine as a veterinarian, forensics, or go into research and look at criminal psychology/psychopathy/neurobiology (what makes killers "different" than normal people).

Wow you've said everything I've said myself! I also hate the stuck up students, really annoying.

I just took my first A&P test today.

I've taken two quizzes, 100% so far....not looking forward to exams, they are at midterms and are online though

This class is so overwhelming. We are doing 2 chapters this week, ch 5 and 6 then a test the following tuesday. Back to back lecture/lab exams same day. Im getting burned out and we just started. Im really worried if I cant handle this class, how am I going to handle nursing school?

What type of person do you have to be to make it in nursing? Im not a type

A personality.

We have our second exam in two weeks - over...two chapters, I think? We move a little differently since we cover different stuff than the "normal folks".

As for the personality...I have no idea. I probably won't be one of them, but I have no choice. Start juggling things - find someone you can explain concepts to, have people quiz you, make flashcards. I honest think (in your case) you're spending far too much time on this class and that's what's causing your burn-out.

I took my first exam today and didn't do as well I wanted. I passed the test with a 76%. I thought that I could do better. I still have enough time to get a higher grade in A&P I :) Earlier I was very upset about it but at least I passed the exam :)

It is still early in the semester... just study harder. The first test is always hard. I took my first exam Monday and got an 89... tomorrow is my first lab practical. A little nervous about it because I'm not good at memorizing things.

I had to miss class today, so I don't know my /official/ score, but I think I ended up with a 82.something which is B. I'm really, really disappointed in myself. =/
