Hello everyone, I am new here.
My name is Tee and I am in the process of working on my pre-reqs to apply to an ADN program. This will be my 2nd degree so I just need to do my science pre-reqs. Nevertheless, I am taking some other classes to help boost my GPA. I call them my easy A classes. LOL. But seriously, I don't just look at them as an easy A. I still have to work for that A, but these are fun classes to me where things are not so serious like Chem and A&P. They give me a break from the science stuff.
a. How many credits you are taking next semester
I am taking 12 credits this semester
b. What part of A&P 1 you are looking forward to, are you nervous?
I can't say that I am looking forward to any particular part more than the other. I am anxious to get the cat dissection over with though. Can't say I am looking forward to it. I was nervous at first but I am more relaxed now. I had my first major exam today and it turned out to be much easier than I thought it would be. Classes started on 1/11. So in 3.5 weeks we did 4 chapters. I am much more at ease now. The test has not been graded yet but I would be shocked if I did not do well. I am confident I aced it. Its only 1 test. Many more to come, but at least I know that I don't have to be so uptight, if I put in the hard work, I'm gonna get the results I want. Also, seeing the prof's testing style helps me to prepare better for future exams.
c. How long you have to apply?
I am shooting for the Spring 2011 Semester. The deadline is in May.
d. Some random thing about you?
I love coffee, I think it should be a necessary food group:yeah:
As a former biology major I have taken 5 semesters of bio classes and I have learned one thing about taking these courses, and physi is no different. Here is my key to Biology success and I will share my secret with you:)Think of your physi class as a new language. You will most likely encounter about 3000 new terms in this class and this can be daunting. Now here is the few secrets.
1. Study Latin and Greek root words. Most med terms ore made up of Latin roots, some Greek as well. If you get strong here, you will do great. For example; on your test, "What is pericardium?" At first you freeze, but knowing the roots you are able to construct an answer. Peri being root for around, card being root for heart, you know at least your thinking of something that goes around the heart. Get the picture? Awhile back I compiled a list of latin roots. Let's see if I can post it. http://www.biology-online.org/biology-forum/download/file.php?id=1007
2. Make Flashcards of all bold terms in your chapters. Quiz yourself and get others to help quiz you.
3. Get a small white board with several pen colors to draw diagrams and such. Helps when studying.
If you do not understand things like active transport, you might bone up on your gen chem.
Hope that helps.
Thanks for your helpful advice! I also found that drawing out the pictures/diagrams like the Kreb Cycle would help me put together the steps. I appreciate you providing a list of the root words too :)
sounds a little easier.. how do they know if your not googling the answers and such...?? let me know how that goes i may take phys online next semester... gl
He really does not care, we have class once a week and lab once a week, but all the homework and quizzes are online, then the exams are online, he said it can be open book or open notes or whatever.... what he said is that you cannot use another person, well we'll see about that. haha, but yeah we have only 2 exams.... one midterm and one final..... 60 questions midterm, 100 final..... 60 mins and 100 mins respectvely.... i think it is doable..... but my school is crazy with the hybrid classes...they love it
