  1. I know this a late response, but the sickle cell pt should be seen first. The H&H is terrible and according to the ABCs that could be detrimental to all ABC. As aforementioned, the other pt is not bleeding yet so I would choose to see the sickle cell first, act swiftly and go see the other pt. In addition, pain activates the sympathetic outflow, which eventually which activate alpha 2 receptors and increase platelet aggregation, which eventually can cause clots if the pain is not controlled quickly.
  2. If you don't want to spend extra time getting the specific pre-regs done I would do the accelerated programs. On the other hand though, I'm in class with some of the accelerated students and they complain about the pace of the program. Personally, I wouldn't do an accelerated program because I want to go at a traditional pace and glean everything I can.
  3. dosagehelp.com is a site that helped me a great deal. It is all dimensional analysis, which I learned in chemistry; however, my professors had this long way of setting the problems up which took so much time during the test. Anyway the website helped with a quick way of getting the calculations done.
  4. I'm also interested in the response here as well. I'm about to start my psych rotation as well.
  5. I'm about to start my third semester in a week or so. I just got done with my program's dreaded second semester and the popular consensus among alumni is that things get a little easier from here on out. I just got my first B in the program this last semester as it was a freaking maelstrom! Maternal infant nursing contained so much material that it was almost inhumane at times. All in all, despite getting my first B in maternal infant nursing, I can honestly say that I'm proud of myself for enduring the such a crazy semester.
  6. Thats what I did and I think its the smartest and cheapest way to go.
  7. Look on the bright side, at least you know that you had a bad night; it would be really bad if you didn't know that. The good thing is that you know that you have things to work on and you can improve. Stuff like this happens to the most experience nurses as well, so don't sweat it.
  8. You really aren't in the position to officially advocate for the patient yet, however you can mention it to your instructor since you are technically under her license. In addition, you can include it into your care plan.
  9. The #1 method I used is recording the lecture. When I study, it add a dimension of fun, at least for me. This way I have three ways to study, I can use my notes, textbook or the recorded lecture. Using all three method really ensure that I cover all bases and because of these methods, the lowest grades I've gotten so far is a 98%.
  10. Thanks for the advice, I'm really glad I'm not alone in this.
  11. I love the lecture, but the lab is pretty ****** to say the least. First we have a quiz every lab day. The teacher missed class the previous lab session so we had to take 2 quizzes and guess what, the lecture exam was the very same day. Needless to say, I have had enough of A&P for a two or three days. Oh yeah, why the hell do need to draw the histology tissues? I suck so bad at drawing and my teacher wants it to be very detailed.
  12. I just took my first A&P test today.
  13. So far the material hasn't been overwhelming at all but I can see it getting difficult if one didn't keep up studying and doing the various assignments. In sum the key phrase is "no procrastination with studying."
  14. Well, once you become a nurse I think your CNA license expires within a short time anyway so it definately not something to fall back on. As CNA you're assisting nurses especially if you work in hospital. It gives you an idea if you really want to be nurse. Imo I respect nurses that were CNA because they value the help CNAs provide as opposed to the ones who treat you like **** and feel like their is more important than any other patient you have.
