So, i am guessing we've all registered for our classes for next semester...i wanted to start a thread where everyone taking the course can come together to ask questions they need help with or just vent or LOL....watever the case may be...so if you are taking A&P 1 in the spring...introduce your self...
a. How many credits you are taking next semester
b. What part of A&P 1 you are looking forward to, are you nervous?
c. How long you have to apply?
d. Some random thing about you?
Lets gooooooo................
Check this thread for some amazing notes by a member.... Polka-dot.(You Rock!!)...for notes on A&P....and welcome to anatomy heaven...:)

Can anyone tell me how many hours a week you are studying for A&P 1? I feel like Im spending about 6 hours a day and I still dont have time to do my labs. I have a test on tuesday, so I am studying ch 1 all day today, ch 2 tommorow and 3 on Sunday , then all 3 on Monday.
To be honest, I'm probably not studying as much as I should...but I am juggling six classes. Probably...hmm, I'm shooting for probably 8-10 hours a week? I have my first test on Tuesday, covering all of chapters 1 and 2 and the first 20 slides or so of chapter three. I also have a histology practical on Friday, so I plan to spend a lot of time in the open lab this weekend (probably Sunday, since I've been really sick this week).
Question!
During transcription a mRNA is formed from the DNA template. This mRNA is then translated in the translation process using ribosomes and tRNA. If the DNA sequence was ACCAAACCG what would be the nucleotide sequence or anticodon of the transfer RNA (tRNA) for the first codon?
1. ACC
2. TGG
3. UGG
4. UGGUUUGGC
I thought the answer for this question would be UGG.. since the first codon is ACC.. and that turns into UGG. But i got it wrong :/ I need to turn this in soon, and I've been looking everywhere but I still go back to the answer bring " UGG"
Help >.
Thanks a bunch

Hi mabel, The answer to the question is TGG. The question asked for the sequence or anticodon of the transfer RNA (tRNA) for the first codon?
The first codon: ACC
trna: UGG
Sequence: TGG
The anti codon of the mRNA is in the DNA format...Hope this helps.
Hi everyone! Rimzy, thanks for starting this thread and posting tutorial links!
a. I'm taking 9 units this semester (O-Chem & Anatomy)
b. I'm looking forward to working with cadavers this semester, but at the same time I'm nervous about it because the last thing I dissected was a frog in high school back in 1994.
c. Hopefully, I'll be able to apply in December for nursing programs in Spring 2011.
d. This is my 2nd time around in school after dropping out to get married and have kids. I'm a SAHM and my husband and I have a screenprinting business we run at home.
Good luck this semester/quarter! I look forward to interacting with everyone!
Guys i need help with a question, ASAP..pretty please...??
Match the description with the proper letter.
-->combines the cephalocaudal and right-left axes
-->combines the cephalocaudal and anteroposterior axes
-->combines the right-left and anteroposterior axes
Options
A. Coronal or Frontal plane
B. Saggital plane
C. Transverse or Horizontal plane
Thanks a lot :)
I have spent about 40 hours this week preparing for test on Chapters 1-3 . I still dont think we had enough time to learn this in 2 weeks. I dont understand hydrostatic pressure, and have a million questions about chapter 3. My teacher never explained half the powerpoint. Im so nervous about the test tommorow.
Rimzy, you are making me nervous too. I have no idea what you are talking about. We didnt go over anything to do with axes.

Haha....Anne that was hilarious, i'm sorry i did not mean to make you nervous....i am just confused....the words seem like gibberish to me.....i was not ready for the amount of work that this class needs...phew

I have my first lecture exam tomooorrrooowwww. I'm nervous as heck, blergh. However, it's only over chapter 1, 2, and the very first part of three (not even to organelles). One thing to remember, though, is that I'm on a quarter system - we only cover histo, bones, and muscles this quarter, and the related physiology. You guys get more, though we get cadavers.

I'll take a stab at it, although we haven't referred to anything as axes...
-->combines the cephalocaudal and right-left axes
Ok, since cephalocaudal is head to toe, we know the plane is up and down, eliminating the transverse plane, right-left, I'm assuming will divide the body into anterior and posterior sections. So A. Coronal or frontal plane.
-->combines the cephalocaudal and anteroposterior axes
Again, up and down, and going through the front to the back of the body, so B. Sagittal plane.
-->combines the right-left and anteroposterior axes
Obviously there is only one choice left, but I'll still explain my reasoning. You are sectioning the body left to right, and from the front to the back, so C. Transverse or horizontal plane.
Anyone else agree?
I had my first exam tonight in A & P II. I got a 91. Not too bad but I could have done better. Some of the questions were worded kind of strangely and it threw me off a bit. We had 35 fill in the blank questions and THAT was really convoluted. The word bank had way too many words, some words were there twice, and some weren't there at all...
I did do better than a lot of others!

Thank you soo much!!! I'm sure you are right because your reasoning sound right....phew.....i think i read that chapter 7 times and did not see anything about axes....and my instructor has not even given us a lecture yet!!

Are you only taking A&P?? I can't afford to spend that much time on one class everyday, i'm taking two other classes. But I definitely put more time into physiology ( only physiology, its not A&P my school does it that way) than any other class. I'm starting to resent this class, and I thought it would be my favorite course! Wrong >.
