TRUMP: "Illegal border crossings last month were by far the lowest ever recorded. Ever.”

Not true, but the numbers are looking good.

The number of migrants crossing the U.S. southern border illegally in President Trump's first full month in office plunged to a level not seen in at least 25 years, according to preliminary government data obtained by CBS News.

I remember there were folks here who said the president (at the time, Biden) was powerless to do anything and it was up to congress to stop the flood of illegal immigrants coming in.

So, your friend is a victim of the fear-mongering and falsehoods the left has been spewing.

Or, is there cases of British citizens traveling here legally and then being detained and deported?  I'm not aware of any, but you let me know when you hear of it happening.

Nice straw man argument.

I did not say it was a friend, it is a UK citizen - I know we are a smallish island but even you can not possibly think we all know each other.

What I commented on is in an official DHS document.

Go on, tell me that the BBC is a left wing organisation so anything they write is lies.

Just remember, when you start talking about how great Trump is remember that he is a convicted felon, he has had 34 counts against him. He has been ivolved in over 4000 separate law suits and when he was in New York business contracts had what was called "The Trump Clause".

Even  his book "The Art of the Deal" was written by someone else and the deal he made with the writer was the best one (for the writer) ever. $250,000 up front plus 50% of the royalties.

If Democrats want to die on this hill over guys like this and this is the best example they have of the above narratives, they can have at it.

I think that what most people (democrats and some republicans) are having an issue with is that this was an illegal deportation.  Okay so we are all clear there.  Since that was the case, bring him back, return him to his family and let him have due process.  That is the US  law <<<<<this is the issue.

As far as his past goes that can all be argued through court systems if/when he's returned and allowed due process.

What's bothering most Americans and what they are standing up for is the law.  If we allow things like this to slip through and just bypass us as Citizens.  What other laws could possibly be broken and bypassed if we just sit by and let them happen.   We've learned this through history and people are nervous and afraid.

I'll acknowledge the Trump administration screwed this up.  However, the Democrats are overplaying their hand (again, when will they learn) by equating it to Trump snatching innocent people of the streets and sending them to concentration camps.  Or Trump wants to normalize "disappearing people".  Or that as one poster here says she needs to keep her passport on her.

That's a lot from you, acknowledging the screw up, but we'll take it.  If you were referring to me about the post I made regarding carrying the passport that was pertaining to another issue regarding a US Citizen receiving an erroneous threat to leave the country in 7 days.  If you weren't referring to my post, please disregard.

Nope. No one appointed me to be spokesperson for the left. Some people are drawn to absolutes and extremes, I don't know why.

Biden seemed unwilling to act by executive order and wanted legal congressional action which didn't happen.

Trump while successful in stemming the flow has been challenged legally.  The latest last night from the Supreme Court.

I generally agree and have said as much.

I also an starting to get the feeling that Trump is playing you all, again.

Apparently, the White House didn't give the go ahead to send the letter to Harvard.

Quote

The April 11 letter, which demanded that Harvard eliminate its DEI programs and screen international students for ideological concerns, among other sweeping changes, was "unauthorized," people familiar with the matter told the Times.

Is the shadow government getting too much attention or is Trump just trying to disassociate himself from the actions of his team?

Quote

The letter was signed by Josh Gruenbaum, the commissioner of the General Services Administration, Sean R. Kevney, the acting general counsel of the Department of Health and Human Services and Thomas E. Wheeler, the acting general counsel of the Department of Education.

A Harvard spokesperson said in a statement to CNBC that "the letter that Harvard received on Friday, April 11, was signed by three federal officials, placed on official letterhead, was sent from the e-mail inbox of a senior federal official, and was sent on April 11 as promised."

"Recipients of such correspondence from the U.S. government—even when it contains sweeping demands that are astonishing in their overreach—do not question its authenticity or seriousness," the spokesperson said.

"It remains unclear to us exactly what, among the government's recent words and deeds, were mistakes or what the government actually meant to do and say," the spokesperson added.

"But even if the letter was a mistake, the actions the government took this week have real-life consequences on students, patients, employees, and the standing of American higher education in the world."

Maybe the Trump administration has more incompetent bullies on staff than it does qualified professionals.

Well I if this is happening, there goes the lefts "idea" that it's only "brown people" from south of the border that are being detained and deported illegal.  Why should they care about a "British citizen" after all, are they not the original "colonizers" and "slave traders" anyway?

Woops. Another left narrative falling in on itself......

That's completely false. Beerman and Tweety are the only members here that have and will critique and occasionally call out their side of the isle when warranted.  Perhaps you were confused by everyone else on this forum? I get it.
