No, it's not appalling. First off, to say he's here with "legal status" isn't quite accurate. He has admitted to coming here illegally.
At his deportation hearing the judge found him to be credible when he testified that he would be endangered at home by a gang that is a known rival to MS-13. The judge issued a "order to withhold removal".
Police reports indicate evidence that he is a MS-13 member. The same judge who issued the order to withhold removal also found that evidence to be credible.
The Trump administration now says they have the right to remove him as MS-13 is a terrorist organization.
On top of it all, he has other criminal accusations, including by his girlfriend who reported on court documents that he beat her.
The administration may or may not be right on this. But the narrative that Trump is snatching from the streets fathers with legal status and sending them to concentration camps is of course, ludicrous. Warren says Trump wants to normalize "disappearing people".
If Democrats want to die on this hill over guys like this and this is the best example they have of the above narratives, they can have at it.
They admitted it was a mistake to arrest him and send him to El Salvador. A judge asked them to stop. If they made a mistake why is it wrong to ask them to correct their mistake and get him out of that prison. (Although I hear he's been moved to a less harsh one, which is in and of itself an admission they made a mistake).
I understand he came here illegally and probably is deportable even though he has no criminal record here or there and had a work permit. Illegal is illegal.
Democrats might be overplaying their hand.
Trump has doubled down on the mistake and won't correct it. If eventually courts or other means prevail and he's released he can demonize Democrats for releasing a dangerous person. If he stays in prison there he gets to do what he's doing and claim he's making America safe. Win win for Trump.
I won't condone his alleged domestic violence or his tattoos. But I'm still not okay with how this was handled.

His is a clock with the time his child was born. British citizen, born and bred in UK but afraid to go to the US in case he gets lifted off the streets and 'disappeared'.
Now tell me thats normal.
So, your friend is a victim of the fear-mongering and falsehoods the left has been spewing.
Or, is there cases of British citizens traveling here legally and then being detained and deported? I'm not aware of any, but you let me know when you hear of it happening.

They can die on this hill and we can all take note that they will shamefuly "defend" (but actually couldn't care less) a member if a terrorist organization who beat woman (who they claim are "oppressed" (but actually couldnt care less) just to smear Trump.
I wonder what they will be remembered for? They already died on the election hill due to this ridiculous propaganda mill and seems like they want to again.
The definition of insanity is doing the samething and expecting different results. 😳
Let them. It will just secure another Republican election win.
Beerman said:Being that the Trump administration first admitted that they made a mistake by deporting him, I think he should be returned.
Now, maybe you can tell me why can't the left make that argument without fear-mongering and false rhetoric?
The false rhetoric is familiar. At this point they know no other way. Kinda like an abused spouse or a gang member.

You partake in the same rhetoric so why won't you answer the question? You don't have to be a "spokesperson " to back up your narrative. Not unreasonable

It's is a virtue if it's a Democrat. So are riots and terrorist attacks. It's only henous and "threat to our democracy " when a republican does it.

Exactly-- let him have his day IN COURT; if found GUILTY then deport to any country but El Salvador if judge confirms this action.

LOL....he's from El Salvador. Why shouldn't he be deported there? Where should he be deported to? What it is it you think he should be found guilty or not guilty of? "If judge confirms this action"? What does that even mean?
With all due respect, this sounds like a very uninformed comment. Maybe someone can make sense of it for me?

If the judge/deportation system confirms that the action of deporting him to a prison is in El Salvador is the correct action to take and not a mistake. In my American mind's eye one should be guilty of something to be imprisoned in such a harsh prison.
Yes crossing the border illegally is a crime and we have a system in place to put them in custody and deport them. We've been doing that already and there is a process.
I think the argument can be made that if he is deported to El Salvador, that isn't a safe place for him and asylum somewhere else is more appropriate, but not sure how that would work.
The so-called "coolest dictator" is very popular there for lowering the murder rate and controlling gang violence. How he's done this through his harsh imprisonment and iron fist is his business. That he's a role model to Trump and taxpayers are paying him (I heard 16 million so far is what he told the governor) to imprison deportees makes me a bit uncomfortable.
The good news is that gas prices are going down. But experts say it has nothing to do with Trump's policies.
But why make up some number of $1.98 in some states? Why make things up...oh wait...SOP for Trump. Carry on.
QuoteDonald Trump went in front of reporters on Wednesday and claimed gas hit $1.98 a gallon this week "...in a couple of states." Not only did this not happen (and would have been big news if it had) but, when the reality of gas prices was pointed out, the White House doubled down on the claim while getting a dig in at reporters, who apparently don't own cars and all live in a "big city bubble."
