"Plans for continuity of government are among the Pentagon's most tightly held secrets,” said Mark Cancian, a defense analyst who follows Pentagon operations with the Center for Strategic and International Studies. "They cover who would be evacuated, how, and where they would go.”

Even the mission's chief beneficiary, President Donald Trump, appeared caught unawares by its purpose. At a press conference on Wednesday, he was asked to clarify comments by Hegseth on the continuity of government plans.

"I don't know what that — what that refers to,” he said.

Hahaha

The stable genius didn't know? I wonder if, now that he knows that this was a VIP  evacuation training if his paranoia will act up?

Physically Biden is old and feeble in his appearance.  Intellectually and cognitively, Biden is still functioning above Trump's highest capacity.  The propaganda was really effective.  It's telling that the media was very focused upon Biden's cognitive health but is not at all interested in Trump's, isn't it?  That's because it was a dishonesty strategy from the right wing that the legacy media bought into.  Propaganda works.

Well at least you're loyal the the delusion Biden is "cognitive". Do you mean that he hasn't become incontinent yet?

Lawyers for Justice Dept. employees threaten to sue, saying dismissals violate the law.

Quote

Lawyers for current and former career employees at the Justice Department and the F.B.I. told a top official on Sunday that the dismissals underway at the department violated the law and warned against making public the names of those who worked on cases related to the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the Capitol.

In a letter to Emil Bove, the acting deputy attorney general, the lawyers promised to sue over the removals, which have affected prosecutors who have worked on cases involving President Trump and his supporters and threaten to extend to thousands of F.B.I. agents.

Quote

"If you proceed with terminations and/or public exposure of terminated employees' identities, we stand ready to vindicate their rights through all available legal means,” the letter said.

It added: "Of all people and entities, the Department of Justice and the F.B.I. have a sacred obligation to keep the American people safe. You also have personally taken an oath to support and defend the Constitution, and you have ethical responsibilities as a department employee and a member of the bar.”

This is so disgusting, but not surprising. Trump promised retribution, and here it is. And he doesn't even have an attorney general or FBI head.

Gee, the FBI says that someone is breaking the law but apparently they can't do anything about that law breaking.  Isn't it interesting how they are so powerless when faced with fascists who think those laws are stupid and don't apply to them?

Multiple health agency websites on HIV, contraception taken down to comply with executive orders

Researchers were scrambling to collect and archive as much data as possible.

Government agency webpages about HIV, LGBTQ+ people and multiple other public health topics were down as of Friday evening due to President Donald Trump's executive orders aimed at gender ideology and diversity, equity and inclusion.

Some of the terms being flagged for removal include pregnant people, chestfeeding, diversity, DEI and references to vaccines, health and gender equity, according to officials at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention who spoke to ABC News on the condition of anonymity.

Entire databases have also been temporarily removed.

Researchers confirmed to ABC News they were scrambling to collect and archive as much data as possible from the sites before they were taken down.

Some pages might be returned to public view after the language is reviewed and removed, officials at the Department of Health and Human Services and the CDC said, though it's not clear which pages.

Removed pages included key CDC information on the rate of HIV diagnoses, breakdowns of infections by race and gender and the probability of HIV transmission by various forms of sex....

"DEI ... would have ruined our country, and now it's dead. I think DEI is dead. So, if they want to scrub the website, that's OK with me. But I can't tell you," Trump continued. Trump's executive order on DEI called for an "end" to any related policies within the federal government.

Health disparity information has historically been used to CREATE programs to educate the public to decrease risk, prevent disease and IMPROVE public health.   Good example is Maternal Health concerns: Black women are three times more likely to die from a pregnancy-related cause than White women per statistics gathered over the past 10 years.  Researchers are greatly concerned that removing ANY mention of  "racial diversity" and statistical data will greatly affect research currently  being done and needed for future medical trials..

This report examines the federal role in addressing racial disparities in maternal health, including negative pregnancy-related health outcomes and pregnancy-related deaths of women in the United States. As attention of these disparities increases, so does the focus on disparities such as, Black women in the U.S. are three to four times more likely to die from pregnancy-related complications than white women in the U.S., and Native American women are more than two times more likely to die from pregnancy-related complications than white women in the U.S. These disparities have become more severe over the last thirty years.

Fascists prefer to have a tight grip on what the people know and are told.  Notice how Trump is forcing silence and compliance in the federal institutions and the corporate media has fallen right into line.  That started when they refused to allow the editorial boards endorse Harris before the election.

I'm really struggling to understand how in the world imposing tariffs on Mexico will reduce fentanyl and illegal immigration.

I always had the idea that addressing root causes of migrants leaving their countries would in the long term lead to less illegal immigration. The goal to work towards strengthening our southern neighbors would ultimately be stabilizing.

Seems like the tariffs will have the opposite effect on Mexico's economy, leading to more migration more drug activity. And of course our appetite for drugs is not reduced when rising costs of food, vehicles, and materials in general negatively impacts our economy.

Where is the common sense?

*The top civil servant at the Treasury Department, David Lebryk, left unexpectedly on Friday after Trump-affiliated officials expressed interest in stopping certain payments made by the federal government, according to three people familiar with the situation

"

We had a good conversation with President Trump with great respect for our relationship and sovereignty; we reached a series of agreements,” Sheinbaum wrote in the tweet, according to a translation from Spanish.

She also wrote, "The United States is committed to working to prevent the trafficking of high-powered weapons to Mexico.”

The fentanyl crisis began before the Biden Administration but it is a failure of his administration to stem it.  I'm glad Trump is getting their attention.  I'm also appreciative they are equally concerned about gun trafficking from north of the border and how we can help there.  We should continue to stay strong allies.

Trump also said the tariffs will make us rich and I wonder if that's part of his plan to fund his agenda.

U.S. President Donald Trump is pushing a plan to explicitly use revenue from higher tariffs on imported goods to help pay for extending trillions of dollars in tax cuts, an unprecedented shift likely to face opposition from many of his fellow Republicans in Congress.

Crazy, demented sociopath says what?

Seems Canada and Mexico were given a delay in the tariffs.  Right leaning Wall Street Journal called it the "dumbest" trade war,

Ultimately as a negotiating tool, Trump seems to have gotten concessions to his agenda.  Hopefully after 30 days the idea will be dropped.

China on the other hand is starting a tit for tat.  Hopefully the supply chain can absorb costs instead of consumers.

He also bitter complained about the trade deficit with the EU and the UK.  Not sure what his plans are there.

They are authorized and funded by Congress. The GOP has control, so why don't they do away with it legally? Perhaps the majority of the US think humanitarian aid is a good thing?
