Trump didn't get any additional or special considerations from either Mexico or Canada but he did have to promise to get better control of the gun trafficking across our borders into Mexico and Canada.  Trump really benefits from a fan club that is satisfied to believe whatever he tells them.  

Here's the answer to your question.  There was no need for tariffs on Canada, it was completely unnecessary.  Trump simply had a temper tantrum and then had to eat his words when the expected chaos and criticism touched him personally.  Trump had to swallow his threats and you interpret that as savvy strength? LOL

I'm not sure that Trump's supporters are willing to accept that reality.  In these threads they've held this up as evidence that Trump has this all under control.  It's remarkable really.  Propaganda works really well.

The president was asked by a reporter what authority he has to take over a sovereign territory, and he replied that he's studied the matter closely for months. 

"I do see a long-term ownership position, and I see it bringing great stability to that part of the Middle East, and maybe the entire Middle East," Mr. Trump said. ...

 

....Asked who would live there, Trump responded, "the world's people," saying, "the potential in the Gaza Strip is unbelievable."

I can't wait to hear how Trump supporters defend and explain this.  I'm genuinely curious how anyone will try to make this make sense.

King Donald the Orange, wants to be Emperor by taking Panama, Canada, Greenland, and now Gaza. Of course, he will need to ethically cleanse Gaza of those pesky Palestinians.

No wait.  We were assured very adamantly that Trump wasn't involved in that at all.  LOL
