Specializes in family practice and school nursing.

NY 40K

Specializes in School Nursing, Home Health.

NM, 45,700, less than a year experience and 183 contract days (M-F, 7:45-3:30. Cost of living isn't bad here, and since all my family is in CA, I am free to travel when I want. I never enjoyed hospital nursing, and you really can't beat the schedule. I'm also thinking on the future for when I have kiddos, school nursing is ideal.

chicago, il and i make $24/hr which works out to about 40k without summer work. i work through an agency.

NH-$39,000, 1st year RN, was an LPN for 6 years, will have BSN in a few months, but have been a school nurse for 4 years. Not on a teachers contract, but get paid 12 months. I work 40 hours a week at K-8 school with roughly 100 students. The no weekends, no holidays and nights and time with my three young children is PRICELESS!! and I get full health benefits and a 401K plan.

Specializes in L&D.

I'm in MN, too. I make $43,000 on the teacher's contract/union. I have a BSN, no MSN quite yet.

Specializes in Oncology, Med/Surg, Correctional, and School nursi.

I am fortunate to have my SN position. I work for DODEA (Dept of Defense Dependent Schools) in Okinawa Japan. We are a US military base school system that supports the children of US service members world-wide. We begin the last week of August and end mid-June. My work day is 0700-2:20. Nurses are considered teachers on the pay scale. I am part of the teacher's union. I receive great health benefits and have a matched thrift savings plan. An added bonus is a very generous housing allowance for those of us who do not live in on-base housing. I start my 9th year in August and will hit the $50k/year mark then.

Hudson Valley- $30,450 from Sept to end of June. 7a.m. - 4:00 p.m.. Required to come in 2 weeks in the summer for sport checks. During the summer I get per diem pay $100/day. I am in the middle school. The high school nurse makes $35,000/yr, they say it is because she has a higher population. She works 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.. I am seriously thinking of quitting. The responsibility, hours and lack of respect from the principal and district office is awful. The school district has no regard for nurses nor do they even understand the job we do. We are not in the teachers union, so our benefits are lacking. This will be my second year. I asked for a salary increase earlier this year and the answer was no. I will ask again, if I do not get one I will more than likely not be returning.
