My lovely oldest who is in 5th grade has been telling me that she has been seeing her school nurse because....her lips are chapped. It was even noted in her recent IEP review that during her testing, she requested to go to the nurse because her lips were bothering her that bad! Needless to say we had a chat about what are good reasons to see the nurse and that chapped lips don't qualify!

I been getting nothing but these types of kids and it got to the point where I told them either they bring their own or they pay me 50 cents for them because I'm running out. I'm not a dispenser kids!

I HAD NO IDEA THIS WAS SO PREVALENT!!!! TOTALLY AGREE!!! Now that I think about it, Sweet Petunia will wake up during the night and apply chapstick :nailbiting:

Holy crap. I am guilty as well. And I tubes of the stuff stashed EVERYWHERE. I guess that means that I never know when I will need a "fix".

A and E could do their Intervention episode on us! We could be famous!

I stash the stuff everywhere, all year round. I DO NOT have a problem though. It's completely normal. I'm a blistex or carmex girl, strictly. None of that cherry chapstick mess.

I am giving a lot to the kids too. I found a box of the packets goes pretty far. The big tube of vaseline and a cotton tipped applicator are good, but the girls really like the scent of the packets. I call it "unicorn farts and fairy dust" scented. It's STRONG.

I gave my own children their own tubes at the beginning of the cold season, but none of them can find theirs. Go figure.

Not a school nurse but I too am addicted to lip balm. I have been since I was a kid. I distinctly recall when I was nine having at least six tubes stashed in my desk at school. Now I have a tube in my purse, in my backpack, in my coat pockets, in every room of my house, in my closets, in my desk at work, in the backpack I use at work, in the coat I use at work. I just never know when I'll need it. I can't do without it or it feels like my mouth is stuck shut. I'm so glad to know I'm not alone. I've never met anyone like me in my whole life.

Hello, my name is Sully and I am addicted to chapstick.

I thought my husband was the only one! He owns several at a time and there is always one near him. He panics if we have left home and he realizes he doesn't have one on him. And any time he stops what he's doing to get up and look around you know it's because he's looking for chapstick!

I dont mind my chapped lip students unless they come in large groups. Once on a very busy day three girls walked in together and at first glance I thought the two on the ends had had to walk the one in the middle down due to dizziness, fainting, or injury :nurse: nope, just chapstick please. (We do Vaseline on q tips)

Because you lost yours and sneaked in their rooms in the middle of the night and took theirs. :woot:

Butt...butt, that's butt grease.

I know, but I love A & D, it heals things so well. I use it on everything.

Here’s Why You’re Addicted to Your Lip Balm | Real Simple

Just lick her lips, OD.

Ick. :barf02:

You are an enabler and didn't even know it. I think this is a woman thing, does anyone know of a male addict (besides my son)?

My son loves his chapstick . . . but so far, isn't using it every day.

I was wondering if it came from the (stereotypical) angst of teen girls of being a good kisser extrapolated to the softness of their lips. Glad to hear men are addicted, too. My wife reminded me my BIL is also addicted.

I've been addicted since high school. I hate clothes without pockets. I keep lip balm on my nightstand, in my purse, bathrobe pocket, etc. Sometimes one gets left in a pants pocket and I find it in the dryer. Nope, doesn't melt. Cleanest chapstick in town.

One time I changed purses to go to a conference. Actually forgot to stock my chapstick. I toughed it out till the break then went off in search of a store. The only store around was a joke shop and I managed to find some joke chapstick. It was supposed to be for winos and tasted like cheap wine. Ick. But it got me through the day. I kept it around after that for emergencies.

MNX2 is a secret Chaptstick addict.

Shhhhh...
