My kid is THAT kid!

My lovely oldest who is in 5th grade has been telling me that she has been seeing her school nurse because....her lips are chapped. It was even noted in her recent IEP review that during her testing, she requested to go to the nurse because her lips were bothering her that bad! Needless to say we had a chat about what are good reasons to see the nurse and that chapped lips don't qualify!

A & D ointment makes the lips really soft and heals them well.

Butt...butt, that's butt grease.

My wife wants to start a 12 step program with you and my son who she has passed the addiction on to. Burt's Bees are her drug of choice. She laughed the whole time I was reading this. She agreed with every word.

Burts Bees is my emergency stash, meaning Mr. Sully uses it and I will steal it if I am desperate. It doesn't give me as bad of a reaction as the others, but still one nonetheless.

I used little packets of Vasline for a while (the tube of Vaseline smelled funny) but it was too messy.

I had to.

Far, my husband ALWAYS says this when my order of Avon chapstick comes in because of how many tubes I order. And he uses the voice, too. It doesn't help that when we were younger he had Napoleon hair.

Skip the middle man and just kiss butt- helps with job advancement as well!

My name is BeckyESRN and I've relapsed into chapstick addiction. I was heavily addicted during my teenaged years, but managed to pull myself up from that dark place and was clean for many years. However, the added stress and extreme dry skin/lips of this pregnancy was too much for me and I fell into my old ways. My husband enables my addiction by ordering my favorite vanilla and honey chapstick from amazon. At this point, I think sudden withdraw would be bad for the developing baby, so I plan to decrease my using after delivery:)

:nailbiting: I know! And smells awful too!

When I was still school nurse, all we were allowed to have for kids with chapped lips was Vasoline as well.

I am a member of this club as well but I used tinted lip gloss from Burt's Bee's. I'm always rubbing my lips together . . . and then having to reapply.

Must be a lot of lip gloss in my system. ;)

A&E should do an Interventions episode on this. It is obviously a nationwide issue.

You are an enabler and didn't even know it. I think this is a woman thing, does anyone know of a male addict (besides my son)?

NO, NO, and NO! That exacerbates the problem. I go round and round about this with my students. I used Vaseline until a student decided that handfuls double dipped were adequate dosages for his whole face.

But...

It's fun.
