Go to the nurse.

So I've noticed a lot of students coming to me for things that are somewhat unnecessary. When asked about a situation, I'll ask "Did your tell your teacher?" student : "yes." me: "what did they say?" Student: "Go to the nurse."

What do you consider reasons to NOT come to the nurse?

I got some mini-deodorants from the PTSA (BLESS THEM), I have soap and water, and hand sanitizer. The alcohol in the hand sanitizer apparently doubles as an odor remover.

But when they're sent for imaginary odor that I can't smell??? Nothing. I chat with the teacher. Because...I can't smell them, and if you can then it's a call to parent. But no way I'm ever going to tell a student a teacher thinks they smell bad!

He who smelt it...

Oy vey....

Had a kid like this and the teacher was FREAKING OUT that it was bleeding and he needed to see me. I swear to god, this "blood" was pink. I just looked at her for a few seconds, grabbed a wet paper towel and cleaned the "blood" away, no cut or anything. I just looked at her and didn't say anything. She just kept silent, went red with embarrassment and left with the student, who was trying not to laugh.

Teacher runs in frantically. "His hair is wet!" and I just look at him and say well his dad said they are putting oil on it to avoid headlice. She says "Oh you think he is ok to go on the field trip or should I call his parents and tell them he cant go." Are you kidding me? Why couldnt he go? "His hair is wet!"... that was a new one for me. I didnt know on top of all my other hats a beautician was one but ok!

I had one that had gum stuck in her hair...I mean embedded. I asked "does your mom know its there?"

"yes"

ok go tell your teacher mom sent you to school with it.

Glue in my hair..

Slime in the hair...so many kids with slime in their hair

Slime in the hair...so many kids with slime in their hair

My kids literally made 22 lbs of slime. They take it out everyday and play with it. Making huge bubbles and popping them mostly. I have taken slime out of their hair and off one of our guinea pigs.

All of the above but my current pet peeve is, "student does xyz( wonders halls, makes a mess, stays out of class too long) so they can ONLY use the nurses bathroom. Had a kid complain today because she had to wait too long in my office because the kid in the wheelchair took too long in there. Ummm...this is the only bathroom he can use.
