Go to the nurse.

So I've noticed a lot of students coming to me for things that are somewhat unnecessary. When asked about a situation, I'll ask "Did your tell your teacher?" student : "yes." me: "what did they say?" Student: "Go to the nurse."

What do you consider reasons to NOT come to the nurse?

One of my favorites is,

Student: I texted my Mom and she is here to pick me up.

Me: Sooooo what do you want me to do?

Student:I want you to excuse me!

Me: Ah NO! I didn't see you and I didn't excuse you!

Our receptionists always send the kid back for a full assessment while they explain our illness policy and our NO PHONES IN CLASS policy to the parents. Still happens.

All of these make me laugh so hard and feel much less alone.

Today's "I went for my BSN to..." moment was using a hair dryer to dry a pair of pants because my dryer broke and I know both the little one and the parent would have FREAKED if the pants didn't make it home

Some of my other top ones are:

*My teacher needs ice in her cup

*I want a different band aid for this 3 day old cut

*"When I do this (insert ridiculous limb stretch here) it hurts"

I tell this to parents too, and they get mad, but it's my rule and that's how it goes.

Happens to me as well. But admin is okay with giving a detention. I, thankfully, get to stay out of that discussion.
