Had a kid bring his wet, bloody tooth and plop it right on my desk.

C'mon now!

Or the kid that did running knee slide into my office.

C'mon now!

The ones old enough to cover their mouths but choose to cough right in your face instead.

All together: C'mon now!!

Some things just make me shake my head.

I have so many questions?! Why? Where did he obtain this tail? What type of lizard? Is the lizard okay? What happened to provoke the lizard to drop its tail? so many questions...

The lizard is on the lookout for Hammy, he can run amuck in the school while he regrows his tail!

No lizards around here! Too cold :coldfeet:

Received a physical that I've been asking for for over a year. In bright red letter at the tope of page 2 it says "Almonds!!". Apparently that student is highly allergic. In fact, they used Dad's epi-pen on the first reaction. It's no where in her record! No one ever told the school! C'Mon Now!

Student came down to the clinic with this story:

"My teacher lets us brush her hair and it was my turn and while I was brushing her hair the brush fell down and hit me on the nose"

:bored:

And the nurse lets you scratch her back!!!

:sarcastic:

4th grader "I'm really sick. I never sneeze more than twice in a row and I just sneezed 5 times. I think I should go home"

Me: Why on Earth would you need to go home over a few sneezes?

4th: "Because only 1 eye watered after I sneezed and I know that means that something is really, really wrong"

Me: No

Student: My back hurts. It's been sore from playing too much basketball.

Me: Stretch it out.

Student: Don't you have any of that smelly stuff?

Me: no - you can stretch it out.

Student: My mom was massaging my back last night. Can you do that?

Me: Uhhhh.no. Stretch. It. Out.

We're on a roll today folks:

4th grader:"My hands get really red and sore when I clap a lot in music class"

Me: yep, that's normal

4th: "Well, some times the one that I write with gets sore when I hold my pencil and have to write paragraphs"

Me: Also normal, return to class, shake you hand when it gets sore, you'll be okay:sarcastic:

3rd: "I was sick and missed school"

Me: We've been out of school for 6 days, so you were sick 7 days ago?

3rd: "yes and I'm still sick"

Me: So, you were terribly sick over the entire break and didn't get to play with friends or go anywhere because you were too sick?

3rd: "No I was sick before break and fine on break and I'm sick now still"

Me: No fever, go back to class

LOL . . . I sneezed 5 times after I read this. ?

10th grader: I have cramps and need medication.

Me: Where's your emergency card?

10th grader: I don't have it but my mom said you could call and get permission.

Me: I need your emergency card.

10th grader: But my mom said you could call and get permission over the phone.

Me: You need to have your emergency card in by this point.

10th grader: ::flounces out::

For the record, emergency cards provide written permission for OTC medication. They were mailed out over the summer and I've been handing them out right and left to kids who've "lost" them since the start of school. In addition, before break a new card was handed out to all students who hadn't turned them in and a notice was placed on the school website.

I do call home for verbal permission in the first month or so of school, but after that, that's the consequence of not turning in that card.

But, how many eyes watered? If only 1, you'd better go home.

I love you so much for this post because I could have written the same thing. I am still missing so many emergency cards and I also use this strategy to get kids to bring them in.

I'm lucky to have complete support of our administration. This year, students are not allowed any field trips or extra-curricular activities if they haven't turned in their card! It's amazing how many managed to get it in when they weren't permitted to attend a dance, or participate in soccer, football, etc. Best return we've ever had!
