Had a kid bring his wet, bloody tooth and plop it right on my desk.
C'mon now!
Or the kid that did running knee slide into my office.
C'mon now!
The ones old enough to cover their mouths but choose to cough right in your face instead.
All together: C'mon now!!
Some things just make me shake my head.
Just found out a student had a significant cardiac episode last week. How did I find out about it, you might wonder? Student came to me today stating that she was feeling similar symptoms to what happened last week. Jumped into immediate assessment mode after finding out what happened last week, all was good today thank goodness (no carotid massage or pre-cordial thump needed ifyouknowwhatImean).
Why no one thought the school nurse might like to know about this before today is a question I will probably never know the answer to.
P.S. I used my hair oil yesterday, but not today. (Legit! I use Argan Oil in my hair during the static months).
Yes 1000X to this!! I can't believe how many times i'll just happen across a student on crutches or with a cast or a large angry looking bandage and ask what happened? Oh, I broke my etc or had my whatever removed. OR, as you stated - the kid coming in with a beat up and aged ER bracelet stating that they had a cardiac event, concussion, severe breathing event - whatever. No call - no note. But you bet your sweet bottom that if something happened in school and we didn't consult our handy dandy crystal ball, the parent would be besides themselves.
Teacher came in with a tissue to her nose...
Teach: "My nose is bleeding!"
Me: *blinks heavily* "Okay."
Teach: "Why?!"
Me: "Were you picking it?" (I had to) After she says no, "Could be several reasons, likely the weather, and the dryness of the air."
Teach: "Okay, so what do I do?" As she pulls tissue away and very little blood is noted.
Me: "Wipe it and head back to class."
These are EDUCATED people. Why do they not act like it?

Today's C'mon visit from a 1st grader.
"I'm not sick but my dog pooped in my underwear" This was 4 hours into the school day!! No dog on campus and no smell so back to class the little dear went! The worst part was the teacher that overheard the student's complaint and was shocked because I didn't take them to the bathroom and check!
