Easy RN admission program in Tennessee

Hello All,

I would like to share some information to whoever have a hard time getting into any BS RN program.

University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (public school -www.utc.edu) has a BS RN program on campus, and very easy to get in. No entrance exam or TEAS required. All science courses could be over 5 years old and must have at least 2.75 GPA. About 40 spots open for each semester. They have around 100 applicants each semester; however, I applied and got in. My science GPA is 2.80 and all science courses are 7 years old. I didn't have to take any entrance exam. No interview. There are not many students in the state applied. I thought this information might help someone like me when the science courses are over 5 years. Good luck!

According to what I found online, the pass rate for 2009 was 95%, 2010 and 2011 were each 96%.

I wonder how it is that they have such minimum (actually, practically zero) entry requirements when other schools maintain much higher standards for entry.....and still offer a decent passing percentage?

My alma mater maintains 98-99%, some years 100%; one year it sank to 95% but overall, I'd think that would still be comparatively good.

I wonder what the average passing rate is for US schools?

I am not surprised by the passing rates on the NCLEX. Most people who go through a nursing program are committed to it and want to pass. I thought the NCLEX was super easy and unless it has changed since 2006 I can't imagine it is much more difficult. My ABSN program had pass rate of 99%. As far as easy to get into..hey...if it works it works. As long as accredited then why not. I really never care where my fellow nurses went to school anyway. I care about whether they show up to work on time and are hard workers and reliable. Nothing worse than having to stay late every shift because coworkers were "stuck in traffic" every SINGLE day.

I think this is an easy school to get in because their entrance requirements are not as rough as other nursing schools that I applied to. The school that I went for my nursing school required me to take the TEAS, interview, on site essay, at least 3.0 gpa on all science courses and must be taken within 5 year, and the pass rate for the school weren't as high as this school; however, I managed to pass my NCLEX on my first try. I used Saunders along with the Kaplan online Q bank and lecture video and studied. It took me 6 weeks to study and passed at first attempt. The pass rate gives you an overall of the program; however, I think at the end, it's all about you. If you put enough time for the review, I am sure you will pass the first try!

This school is accredited and the overall pass rate for the NCLEX is 100%. This means all students passed the NCLEX regardless the number of times that you attempt to take the test. As a former nursing student, I thought this is a great school. If I were you, I would worry about getting myself admitted in first because it is really hard to get into any nursing school nowadays. Since this is a public school, I don't think it's going to be expensive either.
