  1. TabDwalker, Thank you for your reply again. May I ask how you are preparing for your upcoming test?
  2. Hi TabDWalker, Thank you for your reply. Did you experience it yourself or where could you find that information? I asked my FNP program director and other professors at school regarding if the testing site would give me the print-out, but they weren't too sure either. I really don't want to take the test if I have to wait for 2 whole months for my result to mail home. That would be an everyday torture for me! :)

  4. Hello, I am taking my second to the last class right now and just passed the school's FNP exit exam. The school encouraged me to take the exam during my last class which is in 5 weeks from now. I heard that the AANP or ANCC won't release the score to the school or mail out to the student's house until the official transcript of all classes are completed. However, I am wondering if the TESTING CENTER will give the student the PRINT OUT result "passed or not passed" on the same day? Thank you!
  5. Hi Everyone, I know that GCU has both on campus and online MSN-FNP program. I know that their online program only offers to certain states. I live in California. Is there anyone here from California who is enrolling in their FNP online program or know if the school offers to California residents? Thanks in advance for the information!
  6. This sounds exactly like the LTC facility that I worked for when I was a new grad. I think this sounds like any typical LTC facility. I worked at a LTC for 5 months and advanced to an acute care facility after that. I couldn't survive any day longer.
  7. I suggest you to go for LVN then work part-time while attending the LVN to RN program. RN is your dream career, so you need to pursue what you like. In nursing, license will get you jobs, not a degree. There are shortages in nurses right now still. Once you get your first year experience as an RN, there will be plenty of jobs out there for you to choose. I am currently working as a home health RN, and they would call me for patients everyday. I had to refuse some cases because I need more time for my family and school. Respiratory Therapy is a very good career, and I love being an RT. You could get a Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy after you finish your AS and passed you CRT and RRT examinations. Or attend a school that offers a bachelor's degree. For the current job market, RT is very saturated, unless you want to move to the East Coast (I don't know where you are located from), because I know my classmates from RT school are still struggling finding RT jobs. Working at the hospital, RTs have less responsibilities than RNs, despite the same pay rates. RTs usually work in the ICU,where they manage the ventilators and airway management. RTs who work on the floors at the hospital usually give breathing treatments and do patient teaching (very chill). If you want to know more about RT, you should volunteer or shadow an RT at a local hospital. With the current grades that you have, I doubt that you could get into an RN program, unless you get lucky with a school that does lottery. So, my suggestion for you is do what you like. If you want to pursue the RN route, you should get into an LVN program asap. You should contact some of the private schools too because their LVN programs are shorter than public schools. You could get loans thought federal loans and pay back when you're working. This is the faster route. But if you have time, you could attend public schools. Good luck to you!! :)
  8. I passed the NCLEX first try by only using Saunders along with the Kaplan Qbank and its live lecture ($500 package). I didn't even read a page of Kaplan's book that came with the package because it seems to be boring to read. So I used the Saunders instead.
  9. If u took all your prerequisites and ready to admit to the BSN pre licensure program, you are considered as a transfer student and should be done in 2 1/2 yrs. take a look at their sample curriculum of class. Ex: fall 2015- 3 classes, spring- 3 classes, summer - 2 classes, etc. I'm sure it's way cheaper and fully accredited. As far as for jobs in California, you would have to relocate and get your experience in an acute care settings ( hospital) for 1 yr and then come back to the state.
  10. If you are willing to move, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (public school -www.utc.edu) has a BS RN program on campus, and very easy to get in. No entrance exam or TEAS required. All science courses could be over 5 years old and must have at least 2.5 GPA. Hope this helps.
  11. Wcu is a good school. One of my friends went there for the BSN pre-licensure. I heard its about $135k for the whole program, which I think it's super expensive. I don't know if you are willing to move out of state, but I just saw a post from another member on here on University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (public school -www.utc.edu). She said it is very easy to get in. It is a public school too, so it won't be that expensive. You should check it out!
  12. I think this is an easy school to get in because their entrance requirements are not as rough as other nursing schools that I applied to. The school that I went for my nursing school required me to take the TEAS, interview, on site essay, at least 3.0 gpa on all science courses and must be taken within 5 year, and the pass rate for the school weren't as high as this school; however, I managed to pass my NCLEX on my first try. I used Saunders along with the Kaplan online Q bank and lecture video and studied. It took me 6 weeks to study and passed at first attempt. The pass rate gives you an overall of the program; however, I think at the end, it's all about you. If you put enough time for the review, I am sure you will pass the first try! This school is accredited and the overall pass rate for the NCLEX is 100%. This means all students passed the NCLEX regardless the number of times that you attempt to take the test. As a former nursing student, I thought this is a great school. If I were you, I would worry about getting myself admitted in first because it is really hard to get into any nursing school nowadays. Since this is a public school, I don't think it's going to be expensive either.
  13. Thank you for your reply. After reading from the website that you provided, I am still confused if the pt refused to sign the inform consent to notify the partner regarding the HIV status, then will the NP be allowed to report to the partner LEGALLY? Please reply if anyone knows the answer to this. Thanks in advance!
  14. Hello Everyone, If you were to have two patients who see you at the clinic. Pt 1 came in tested positive for preggo test and wants you to keep the news secret from her family. She refused to have HIV testing because she stated that her husband and her were tested couple years ago already and it was negative. Pt 2 came in about weeks later for abdominal pain. He told the primary care provider that he diagnosed HIV years ago and his spouse knows about it, and they are having protected sex. The NP later found out that both patients are married. What would you do in this case? I know that I would break the pt's confidential law if I tell Pt 1 that "Your husband Pt. 2 has HIV, and you should go tested." I want to hear from your opinions. Thanks! MM
