Am I the only student here that has anxiety when I think about not getting accepted?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I am in the middle of taking my pre-reqs right now. I want to apply for the LPN program but it seems like the CC I am at every single person is going there for nursing. It just stresses me out so bad. I get a headache thinking about it. I am not sure If I should talk to my adviser about the chances of me getting accepted or how many people get accepted for the program for each semester. Maybe I should use this anxiety as my drive to study and work hard.

All you can do is your best, getting accepted is competitive everywhere and unfortunately by state regulations they are only allowed to have a certain amount of teacher to students ratio. So they are at a limit to how many students they can accommodate according to the amount of instructors. All you can do is work as hard as you can, pray, and apply at several schools and not just one!

Every time I think about getting rejected I feel a little sick. And every time I think about getting accepted I feel even more sick. :p

I am super nervous. I applied in July for Spring 2013. They said that letters go out the end of August. Here it is the last week in August, and I am still waiting on a acceptance/rejection letter. You just never know what the competition is like. We get accepted based on points. I have 5.5 points out of 7. This is what makes me super nervous because I have almost the max amount of points. So if I don't get in with this then I don't know what my next move will be. Another reason I am nervous is because someone said that letters started going out on the 15th of August. So I don't know if they send the letters out in any specific order, or if they go out randomly. Someone said that their school send out acceptance letters first so if someone can not attend then they call someone who did not get in. Good Luck!

Me too!

Absolutely, but I just have to keep my head clear and "in the game" so to speak. I think the best thing to do is to have a back up plan. I am applying for the Fall 2013, my school only starts every Fall and if you don't make it in you have to wait and apply for the following year. IF I don't get in then I will take my CNA, which I am doing this semester, and work as a CNA to gain more experience. So, like I said, just breath and have a back up plan!

I agree with Butterfly: have a backup plan. I will probably do a cna/lpn program and try to find work until I can reapply. Also, if I don't get in anywhere I will ask admissions what I can do to be more competitive and work on that. Having this plan eases my anxiety! :)

you're surely not alone! Direct your anxiety to getting A's in the pre-reqs and good standardized test scores, then you will be fine. Don't forget that even though there might be 30-40 pre-nursing students in your class, only a few will get an A.

It's definitely tougher if you're only applying to 1 school. Definitely talk to your advisers and put in some face time with admissions (make sure you mention your name) but don't harass them too much. Asking how many applications they receive and the % accepted, or where you stand, is totally fine. It shows maturity, determination, and desire to attend their program.

I get so anxious! I am applying to a total of 5 schools for the BSN. I hate that if I don't get in, it will delay me another semester.

I'm with you! The only thing that keeps me from really freaking out is, as others have said, having a back up plan. I am applying for fall 2013 however if I don't get in for that semester, I am going to complete the EMT certificate which by then the only course I'll need is a 7 credit hour EMT course since I'm doing all the pre-reqs now that I would need. Then I would apply again for spring 2014. Just keep positive, : )

I only applied to one lpn program, only one adn program, and only one rn-bsn program. I was a nervous wreck too! I got into all them first try and no waitlist

You think the anxiety is bad now...

I applied on August 13th and we will have our acceptance/denial letter by November 1st.

Just wait till you have to wait for that letter.

It's like the SLOWEST 3 months ever!!

Talking to your advisor will always help with your anxiety because you will know more answers. You will know what is considered "competitive" in your program and you can strive to get those scores!

Good luck!
