A&P I Summer 2007

I want to start a sticky A&P I Summer 2007 for those of us tackling it!:) I start in two weeks.. M-Th 3hours every morning!

Good Luck to all of you who have A & P I for the short time frame. One thing that I try to keep in mind is that in some way you know A & P and we all in some way or another talked about the body, but just not in the scientific tems. I guess when I look at it that way, it helps me to keep me grounded knowing that I can learn it.

Taking Physiology this Summer as well.

Specializes in neurology, cardiology, ED.

I am taking A&P I & II this summer. I go to Lab Mon-Wed 8-10, Lecture Mond-Thurs 10-12noon. We cover 3-4 chapters a week, with a test and a lab quiz each week. I work Mon-Thurs. 3-11, and EOW 3-11. Oh, and I'm taking Dev. Psych as an online course for the whole 12 week period. Have I over extended myself? Nah, I'm pretty smart.

Took my first test today. Chapter 1. I think I only missed one. I studied for 16 hours in TWO days. The regions on the body actually took me 3 1/2 hours to memorize.

We are covering 14 CHAPTERS in 5 weeks.

We just finished Chapter 2 and we have another exam on Monday. I just hope I didn't make a mistake by taking it this summer! This is SOOOO hard! Our Chapter two chapter is a Chemistry review. Chem is like a nightmare that won't go away!

We are too!! 14 chapters in 5 weeks......eek!

I start class tomorrow, so count me in! I think I'll need as much help/support as I can get! I am taking BOTH A&P 1 and 2, plus labs this summer!! Are we crazy?? Trying to cram 30 weeks worth of class into 10?!? I'll be in class an hour and forty minutes a day, five days a week. The lab is six hours a week over 3 days.

I have spent the last two hours trying to weed through my books and get everything ready (the professors put up our web access Saturday...so I got a head start on printing things!). For the class we had to get the book, a clinical apps. manual, AND a 250 page packet of notes printed by our instructor, available at Office Max for only a wee $13! I almost died when I saw it!! It barely fits in a 1.5inch binder!

A&P summer session = lots of coffee and lots of studying!

Good luck everyone!

Oh! My mom gave me the Anatomy coloring book as a good luck gift, and it seems like it will help (if I can find the time!). Just another method of cementing that info.!

I wish my online A & P class had in class labs, we don't. Have to do all of them at home, 6 total, and write reports also. Seems I'm running to Wally world to pick up supplies every day for the labs. Walmarts is definetly loving me!

I take A&P1 this summer and I have class mondays and wednesdays. I have lecture from 8:30am until 11:40am and then I have lab from 12:30 until 2:00pm. so my mornings and a lot of my afternoons are filled. I got a A on my first exam so I'm super excited and I'm that much more motivated to keep doing well.

I just had my first test for my online A&P and got an A on both the lecture and the lab portion. It was hard earned and very time consuming studying with learning 6 chapters in only two weeks time. I was thinking I made a mistake on taking this class in the summer but now I know I can do it. I am going to change one thing though in my study methods. I taped all my study guide sheets which have about 100 sentences/facts per chapter after I completed all six chapters. The change I am going to make is to tape record all the questions/facts on the study guide after each chapter. That way I can memorize and absorb the facts as I go along. Then I can listen to it while I am doing things around the house or taking the kids somewhere. Also, to absorb the Histology chapter I printed out my online labs with photos of the tissues, etc. and then put the name and facts of each one the the other side of the index card. That was really helpful because the hardest tissues that I had trouble recognizing were on the test. I am so glad I took the extra time to try to find a way to memorize them.

I'm in for AP 1 also this summer. Class starts tomorrow. Anyone else have to pay 280 for their books?

My book was only $170 (new), and we didn't have to purchase the lab manual that came with it, he is giving us handouts.

So far I have a 98 and a 84 on my first two exams...11 more exams to go. I thought I got a C on the last test...so I was very happy with an 84...I think I've figured out where the test questions are coming from, so I hope to do better on our exam for Thursday.

Specializes in Psych Charge RN/ Med Surg/Float Nurse.

My class started yesterday. We have already covered 2 of the 6 chapters in the class and our first test is next Wed. It's looks like it'll be a lot of work, but very manageable for me. The labs are fun at least because our instructor is nuts! She is hilarious. 7 am is so early though, and today was just a review of chemistry, which I didn't need. It was a real struggle not to fall asleep. One of my friends did fall asleep. I wish I had just stayed home and slept in a bit.

Having a slight set back. I will be missing my first full week of labs and lectures. My father died this past Friday and I'll be staying with my Mom till the week-end. (She has refused to allow me to say longer....says I must get back to school. She is a BSN.) I emailed my teacher and she sent study outlines for the material. A friend is recording lectures. My DH left for home today and is actually going to go to my school tomorrow and make sure I have everything I'll need to catch up when I get home Saturday evening. I can't stress enough the importance that you all have a "class buddy" that you can contact to record lectures and get materials if you have to miss classes. You never know what life will throw at you!

I'm sorry for your loss. You are where you need to be right now with your family. I am sure your professor will be very understanding and give you the extra time you need to catch up. God bless you and your family.
