Need Financial Help
Have you applied for FAFSA. I would go and see your financial aid counselor and see what they could do to help. I would also check into scholarships. Good Luck.

Anyone for FCCJ in the fall???
Hi Jessica~ I'm finishing taking my pre-req's and plan to apply to the program in Dec. I'm doing A & P I, Algebra and Human Growth and Development online and will finish my other classes between the North and Nassau center. I'm going to be in the same boat as everyone else, waiting and wondering once I apply. How did you do on the entrance exam? Did you find the ARCO book helpful in studying? Brenda~

Are we all old???
Well I'm currently a SHM doing college full time. I'm 44, with a wonderful DH, 2 teenagers 17 and 14 and I decided that having one degree in a field that I love wasn't enough for me, so here I am going to college again embarking on hopefully my second career that I love just as much!

Deployments for RNs by Branch?
Just want to put my 2 cents in. My husband is active duty Navy corpsman and was sent to Afghanistan for 15 months to be with an Army unit. They had AF members in the unit as well that only stayed for approximately 4 months, maybe 6 at most. Those medical types no matter what you are were out on the front lines. Seems as though the Navy, Army and Marines are the ones with the year or longer deployments while the AF was only a few short months at that.

Navy Nurse Questions
DM22~ Please keep in mind after reading my post, that I am a Navy Spouse who also is in school for nursing. What I was referring to is the military, no matter what branch you are, is not for everyone. You have to be a individual, husband/wife, who can tolerate deployments, leaving at a moments notice, etc. Now that stated, I am a firm believer that the same goes for anyone who is active. In other words, you as a individual have control over what your life holds for you. Hope this answers your questions.

Hi All~ I'm currently a student at FCCJ doing online and North Campus. Just wanted to say thanks for all of the info you have posted, very good to know. Any FCCJ students here
Thanks for the info! Will have Prof Seals for A & P II(Nassau Center), Prof Taylor for Chemistry(North) next semester. Won't be needing Humanities since previously taken. All I will have left are these 2 classes along with Math 1105 which I'm signed up with Prof Holcomb and Micro which I will take in winter semester, just not sure of Prof yet though. Again thanks for the info.

Any FCCJ students here
Currently enrolled in online courses for A & P I, big mistake. Taking Alegebra online, no problem at all. Will start human growth and development first of July online, no problem. Was slated to start Chemistry in class at North campus with Prof Gant in July also, but since learning that she is not a real good teacher, planning on switching to fall semester in class at North Campus also.

Want to share website
Hi all~ Since everyone on here has shared many many websites with all of us, I wanted to share this with all of you too. My DH found this for me and it has alot of valuable information on it. http://www.testprepreview.com/nursing_practice.htm Also whomever shared the website to rate your professors, GOD BLESS YOU! I started looking at it yesterday and I can only say I wish I had this websie before I selected the Prof's I did, because I would not have selected the Prof I have for A & P I. I am now going in and changing all of my classes with Prof's that are not recommeneded or reviewed well, and for anyone who hasn't looked at this website, you may want too! Thanks again!

Hardest pre-reqs?
That's really a shame about the teacher. You would think that she would be doing just the opposite, helping out as much as she can to make those students suceed.

Navy Nurse Questions
I just wanted to make a quick comment. I'm currently a 44 year old Navy Spouse who is going back to school for a second degree in nursing. My DH is still active duty, will retire Oct '08 with more than 30 years of enlisted service. He is a corpsman and we have been stationed at every Naval hospital on the east coast, plus a majority of all the branch health clinics and the Comfort at one point or another. I have the utmost respect for everyone that works in one of these fine establishments. I just wanted to say to those of you who are thinking about joining the Navy or military, just make sure your doing it for the right reasons. Having been in the Navy this long, and yes I can say that, you either like it or you won't, there is no in between. I have made the sacrafices of my DH being deployed for 3 months, 6 months, and as recent as 14 months to Afghanistan, in the end what it all boils down to is you are the one to make it what it is. Just the same as working in the civy world. I'm truly going to miss active duty, I'll miss when that 2-3 year period comes and I can say ok what are our choices of where we're going, I'll miss the commroderie that only seems to be in a military family, I'll miss alot. But I can say thank god we live in a Navy town and are close to our Navy friends! Kudos to each one of you and Thank You for Your Service!~
