Would it be the right time thinking of baby?
I'm in a second term of nursing and expected to graduate sometimes in next year summer. My fiance and I had talked about having a baby sooner, well, right around my graduation if not sooner. My question is, would that is the right time to get pregnant? Having anyone ever been in this situation before? We planned to get married next year also

Nursing after 50
No, it's not late. One of my classmates actually in her 50s. I think it's amazing how she could find the motivation coming to school and keep kicking. If this is where your heart is at, go for it.

Piggy bag & Starting IV
Thanks for replying to my questions. I was wondering about that because my pt needed a new IV and I notified the nurse, the nurse was busy and referred me to my instructor. I informed my instructor then she was in the room checked if the iv was leaking. The IV was actually leaking as I described then she told one of the other students who has an occupation as described above to instruct another student who hasn't yet started one to start with her wthout instructor present. I was in the room with them at that point but what I found out was that she didn't quite know well as she appeared to be. She let the other student who didn't get a chance started one inserted but I guess she was too nervous, so this appointed student on my instructor behalf took over and inserted the IV. She started to removed the needle when the catheter wasn't even half way into the vein. I wanted to say something in fact I did after it was unsuccessful that she wasn't suppose to pull out just yet until she gets at least a flash back. When she removed the needle with no flash back, she also removed the tourniquet and tried to push the catheter in again and again. The pt was in pain and I was oh my goodness. Then she removed needle to start elsewhere. That was when I said in a quite tone of voice. I think you might need to go at least a half way before you removed the needle and tourniquet. She didn't say anything but continued to act as if she was an expert but she took my advice so this time it was successful. I felt horrible for the pt, he was my pt.

I Have to Find Another Job ......
I'm not a nurse yet, just a nursing student and I'm learning as I go but why giving insulin when her BS was below 110? From my understanding, you give insulin when it's higher than 110 and above according to the sliding scale or based on their accucheck. Am I right? I'm started to give out meds but like I mentioned I learn as I go. However, I agreed with other here that you should call the doctor even though it is 2am in the morning. Boy, I didn't know they take this seriously. You did mentioned that they had to call the family, maybe the BS crashed after you gave her extra 2unit? I mean if not to say the least but if that wasn't happening, they wouldn't be letting you go, right?

Need finding some pictures of Diverticular Disease
I'm doing a teaching project on Diverticular disease. I was wondering if anyone could help me to where I can find those huge pictures for my poster? I saw them done quite a few in school from I don't know what term. I want to have a huge picture of a colon with diverticular sac protruded and stuff like that. Is it possible to find them anywhere?

My goal is getting as high of a grade as possible.

Help! Dig error, accused of lying?
No. I think she told the instructor, she forgot to check the apical pulse and need to do that so she went straight to the room and her instructor followed behind. In the room was where her instructor asking questions and she got nervous and everything spiraling down hill, if I'm not mistaken reading it, am I right?

Help! Dig error, accused of lying?
I'm sorry to hear about your story. Guess what it's very similar to mind in some ways and I got booted OUT and just got back in. May I asked which school you are going to? I tried to explained to them what was going on. And to be honest, I deserved to move on with others but I was single out the whole time and I strongly felt that way but my voice as a student doesn't heard as clear and as loud. So, I pray for you that you somehow get through this and move on with others. I know how stressful it is trust me. I've been there and done that and I even cried in front of her and still she disrespected me by walked away. All of my close friends in that same team knew something was up but they were afraid to stand up for me and I don't blame them, however. They know that I do not have knowledge deficit and I was personally targeted. But the despite the fact that happened, I'm still here and still strong

Pt Interactive Anxiety
Is it only me who has this anxiety or it happens to everyone else as students nurses too? Okay, here is my problem that I'm trying to overcome. I'm not feeling too confident in myself in interacting, explaining or I get really uncomfortable staying the pt's room too long and not helping anything. Why? The easiest for me is to say "hi or hello" to pt in the morning, address my name and titled. Once that is done, I'm asking pt if I can do some general assessment once that done giving them meds according to the schedules (with instructor of course). Sound simple huh? It's not! Most instructors want us to educate pt about their meds, but I feel like it's repetitive. I used to be pt and I know how that this have two to three people explain the same thing to me. I just feeling like I'm being repetitive and sometimes pt look very disinterest. What is the best way to deal with this? What should I be acting like when I'm in front of pt or with assigned nurse or instructor? Should I lead or just stay behind? I just want to be out there and be confident but sometimes it's hard to do that when you afraid that people think you don't now anything or looking at you as if you are an idiot! I just need to know what is the best way to be a shining star in group of students. I don't want to be the weak one. I want to be recognizable by instructor that I'm doing a good job such as this and that on the floor. Thanks guys. Any tips successful tips would greatly appreciated. FYI--I'm an introvert person

How I take a test and get an A
Thanks for sharing your techniques. But would it be practical to read the whole chapters? How those notes or study guides passed down from previous students? Are they a good way to study or just a supplement?

I flunked and Got back in, now what?
Okay, everyone. I'd posted in the past describing how devastated I was flunked my clinical and just recent got back in. The class starts in several weeks. Currently, I'm reviewing the old notes that friends passed down and reading the book. But I can't help feeling stress out and the anxiety is building up. I have to pass this time; it's a MUST. Ever since I failed, I feel defeated and hopeless in many ways you can't imagine. Now that I can get back into the game after skipping a semester, I don't confidence I was before. Friends are moving on and I'm left behind:( Is anyone of you ever experienced that before? I just need some advice to how you deal with it and to do well this time. How to study or prepare. How many hours do or did you spend on studying to make good grades. I tend to have an unusual study habits. For intance, I can't stay still for longer than 30 minutes reading the book then I'm off doing something else. As to study for the drugs, how do you get a better memory retention? I bought some new Pharmacology Memory Notecard. It seems nice and I'm getting better with classification but the only problem I have is the adverse reactions portions. They all seem to apply to everyone of the medication to me and it gets me so frustrated that if you ask me for the adverse effect of any drug, I might not even able to answer it
