A&P I Summer 2007

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I want to start a sticky A&P I Summer 2007 for those of us tackling it!:) I start in two weeks.. M-Th 3hours every morning!

So far I am enjoying my A&P I class! I found an interesting website that has live human dissections done by the guy who did the Bodies exhibits. It covers basic anatomy but he explains and shows how certain diseases affect the body. Hope this helps!

Hello All,

I started my summer A & P I on June 5 and so far have had two lecture tests and one lab practical. My next lab practical (skeletel) is on Thursday. [evil]We have a lecture test every Monday and a lab practical every Thursday. [/evil]We basically have to cover 12 chapters in 5 weeks, we are in lecture and lab 4 days a week, 4 hours a day. Seems to be about the same as everyone else.

Does anyone know of any good flash cards for the bones, etc., best brand or whatever?

Here is the link to my schools biology department and they have lots of helpful tools and links that you may find useful for not only A & P I but all biology courses. Hope it helps & good luck everyone!

Hey, if anyone understands muscle contractions, please send me a PM ASAP. I have an exam tomorrow and our book is not clear on this subject.

I thought there were different kinds of contractions, such as skeletal muscle contractions, sliding filament model of contraction, and contraction of a smooth muscle.

All I can find on the internet is different names, but they all seem to be the sliding filament model...

Am I missing something here?

Thank you, this site will be really helpful for me when i start A & P this fall 2007 at BMCC in NYC. I just brought the A & P coloring workbook from Barnes & Noble to get a head start. Check out B &N's medical section, they have great stuff for studying A &P

You are lucky! You only have 12 chapters. My six week course has us covering 17 chapters. It is online though so at least I save the classroom time. We only have to go into class for testing. I can't really help you with your question. I bought Grey's A & P flashcard box but have not really had anytime to look at them. It takes so much of my time just going thru all the course work plus the Lab CD's. The lab CD's we use from McGraw Hill called Anatomy & Physiology Revealed are really great. They have self tests on the CD's which cover everything so it is a great learning tool.

Specializes in None.

Hopeful, my teacher suggested this website for contractions, it works really well!

1) Go to: www.mhhe.com/seeley7

2) Go to Student Edition

3) Go to Chapter 9

4) Look up different types of contractions.

Hope this helps!

I started A&P 1 on May29 and omg it is so much harder than I ever expected. I take it every week on Fridays from 8:30-3:30 HARD HARD HARD!!!! But, I know that we will make it, so keep your head up and go for it!! If you have any suggestions on how to study for this class, I want to hear them. Thanks and good luck to all!!!

I really hope someone can help me. I am taking A & P online. My instructor gave us a drawing of a brain and the following directions:

1. Draw a sensory neural pathway from the skin of the foot to the appropriate cerebral cortical area. (Refer to the homunculus for locating the foot sensory area.) Be certain to include three neurons with a cell body, dendrites, axon and axonal terminus on each neuron.

2. Draw a motor pathway to the muscles of the left hand using the same rules outlined for the sensory pathway. Be certain that the axons of neurons travel vertically only in white matter.

I am lost and so are my classmates. Any help would sure be appreciated!

Well, I just have one week left. It has gone really fast. One more lab exam, practical and written, one lecture exam, and one paper due. It was pretty overwhelming at first, but you can do it. It helped me to try and look over the material before class, and before tests to do all the practice/review questions at the end of each chapter.

If one class had an exam, I just quit studying for the other one and focused on the imminent threat. Then I would coast in that one and catch up in my studying for the other one. And on exams, answer every question, even if it's a total guess. I was suprised how many half-points I picked up on bones when I had no idea and just put a generic label like 'medial tuberosity'. You can do it!
