I was wondering what Xanthorrhea means? Does it mean a yellowish discharge? Also, what does mycohemia mean? does it mean a condition of fungus in the bones? Thanks

I have been given a case study to complete that I am having a difficult time with. It is not over any information that we have learned in class and I can't find the info in any of my textbooks. Any suggestions or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. The case study reads: This is your first night working actually working as a nurse in a long term care facility. You have already completed training and orientation. During report, you are surprised to learn that you have 14 very ill patients and things seem very disorganized from previous shift. This is one CNA who will assist you. 3 hours into shift you realize that you are not keeping up in terms of passing meds or changing dressings. You notify the float CN and she doesnt offer any help or solutions. 1. What are legal issues that are in risk in this situation? 2. What can you do about the situation? (Answers need to be thorough and detailed)

We are studying diabetes and were given an assignment showing some doctors orders. We are to explain why the order is right or wrong. Maybe I am not understanding, but I just don't feel I was given enough information. I am especially having trouble with #3 on the the list which I copied below. Thank you tampagirl. So, I am correct in the diagnosis being risk for fluid deficit? I have looked through the nursing dx several times and I keep thinking there must be a more fitting one, but maybe I am just not getting it.

I have an assignment where I have to compare the approximate cost for Foley catheter insertion. I have to compare a hospital's charge for this, a clinic's charge, and a nursing home charge. I cannot get a quote from our local hospital or clinic. I obtained the nursing home info. Does anyone have any idea on the charge?

Thank you all so much. I knew A & D were wrong, but had debated back and forth between B & C. I was just thinking about this and wondered if the Dr. actually orders the flow rate on continuous irrigation or can the nurse adjust it based upon the color of the output. I read in my book that it should be pink to light red and that the color would fluctuate based upon the flow of the irrigation.

I thought that bladder irrigation after prostate surgery was to remove clots in the bladder and prevent oozing of blood. I have a multiple choice question that I am not sure of. It asks the purpose of continuos bladder irrigation after prostate surgery. My options are: a. hydrate the pt b. dilute the urine to stop clots from forming in the catheter c. stop bleeding in the bladder d. promote clot formation I think the answer must be c, but I can't find anywhere that says the irrigation actually stops bleeding. Any help would be much appreciated.

I have a question in my workbook that asks: The Dr. orders throxine 0.2 mg p.o. for the pt. Throxine tablets are 100 mg each. How many tablets would you give? I am not getting this as the tablets are 100 mg and the order is .2 mg. Any help would be appreciated very much!

Be certain to include three neurons with a cell body, dendrites, axon and axonal terminus on each neuron. 2. Draw a motor pathway to the muscles of the left hand using the same rules outlined for the sensory pathway. Be certain that the axons of neurons travel vertically only in white matter. I am lost and so are my classmates. Any help would sure be appreciated!
