I want to start a sticky A&P I Summer 2007 for those of us tackling it!:) I start in two weeks.. M-Th 3hours every morning!

Hi I wanted to post a school that has A & P 1 and 2 w/lab, micro and chemistry with lab online. I found it on the web it's an accredited school and they take financial aid their prices are pretty good. I couldn't believe it when I saw lab online but they send you the kit to do the labs. In case anyone likes online classes it's Community College of Colorodo they have several campuses but once you register with the main campus you can take classes through any of their schools. Just thought I would share cause it's hard for me to get to an actual school. I registered with them and I live in Texas. One class w/lab is like $600

Does anyone have a good website for the Transcription/Translation process? I'm having trouble figuring out how this relates to protein synthesis and where it fits into the life cycle.

THANKS!

Here you go I remember the whole DNA into mRNA transcription, and translating the mRNA by reading a ribosome and translating it into AA. It's relatively easy and you will need to to know this to help you with AP2 (the class I'm in now). Hope this sites helps.

If you have any problems just google genetics.

yes and i bought a use manual that is no good. it's missing several of the labs. i hope they will take it back.

i'm in for ap 1 also this summer. class starts tomorrow. anyone else have to pay 280 for their books?

Here is the web site that goes with my textbook. I haven't used it much yet but it looks like it has things like quizzes and crossword puzzles.

I'm heading into my 4th week of my Summer A&P course and we have a written exam on Monday and a Practical on Tuesday. The exams are on the bones. Most of the bones are easy but the skull has so many different bones in it that I'm starting to get concerned about the practical. Does anyone have any pointers or sites to direct me to with practice tests for identifying the bones?

I've been in the library studying for the past two hours, feeling like everything is SO overwhelming! Then I decided to take a break and get onto allnurses, since it has been two weeks since I've been on. Long story short, I realized that ALL of us taking A&P this summer are probably feeling the same way--overwhelmed, overworked, and fearful that we won't "get it" in time. I feel a little better knowing that you are all out there studying your booties off as well! Just wanted to say thanks for the support, directly and indirectly, and I hope everyone is doing well. My first test is Tuesday (Lab), and my second is Wednesday (lecture), so wish me luck! I'm hoping for A's!!!!!

I have a bone practical on Tuesday as well. What I have noticed is that there are many similarities and it is making it easier to rememember for me.

For example, usually a particular area is called a process, a "seam" is a suture, an opening is usually a foramen, if something is lower it's inferior if something is higher it's superior.

I took pictures out of the book, and didn't try to read for memorization, I just kept reading them over and over and over again...I finally made copies and whited out the answers...put the bones on little pieces of paper and drew one out...I was SHOCKED at how quickly I am learning these.

Good luck.

I am starting A and P this fall 2007, also taking english two with it. I work full-time, I hope I will be ok

Man I took my first Lecture exam today over 8 chapters and this was the 3rd week!!! I hope and pray I get a C, but the Lab is on Monday pertaining to bones and tissues, and it is easier the more you keep repeating the bones. Sometimes you can form patterns for easier memorization!

Ok..Good news, bad news.

The lab practicum that we had on Tuesday...I got a 94. THANK GOD! It was 12% of our total grade so it's nice to have that A.

Bad news: I got incredibly sick on Wednesday...102 fever, went to school anyway...we had a 2 chapter exam on Thursday (today), and I woke up this morning and I couldn't even crawl out of bed to get aspirin. I had to wake up my husband to get it for me, and if I was alone I would have had to suffer without it.

There wasn't anyone answering at the college on the phone, the professor didn't return the e-mail I sent him early this morning, so I didn't have a choice but to call him on the number he gave us for his home.

He wanted me to skip this exam and have my comprehensive final count double. I said, "I thought you said at the first of the semester not to do that b/c it never works to the student's advantage?" He got really quiet, and I said, "Look, I know why the policy is in place, but I actually had to sleep in my car for an hour when I got out of class yesterday before I felt safe enough to drive home, and my husband and I paid a daycare fine so he could pick the kids up from daycare b/c there was NO WAY I was going to put them in a car with me being as dizzy as I am with a raging fever."

I just told him that if I could have been there, I would have, but sometimes you really are too sick to get out of bed, and I tried as hard as I could, and I just couldn't.

So, he's letting me take my exam after class on Monday.

I'm grateful...but come on! Do they get penalized in their pay if the students show up for class and they are sick and can't come?

I really think that colleges should have blanket, missed-test policies and not leave these things up to the professors.

No one can commit to being healthy 24/7...that is unrealistic.
