A&P I Summer 2007

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I want to start a sticky A&P I Summer 2007 for those of us tackling it!:) I start in two weeks.. M-Th 3hours every morning!

This morning was our first A&P I Lab. Our textbook is Principles of Anatomy and Physiology by Tortora (for both lab and lecture). Wiley (publisher) has a companion website at http://bcs.wiley.com/he-bcs/Books?action=index&bcsId=2287&itemId=0471689343. This site requires no login so it's accessible by anyone and has quizzes, drills, and even crossword puzzles for each chapter. Thought it might be a nice additional resource even if your not using this particular book.

Took my first test today. Chapter 1. I think I only missed one. I studied for 16 hours in TWO days. The regions on the body actually took me 3 1/2 hours to memorize.

We are covering 14 CHAPTERS in 5 weeks.

We just finished Chapter 2 and we have another exam on Monday. I just hope I didn't make a mistake by taking it this summer! This is SOOOO hard! Our Chapter two chapter is a Chemistry review. Chem is like a nightmare that won't go away!

I know how your feeling. My first test, in 2 weeks, will cover 8 chapters and I'm sweating it. Plus I have 8 labs with reports to finish also and have turned in on the 10th of June. I'm regretting taking this class online and not in class, what was I thinking!! Signed up to take A & P II online, but I'm seriously considering changing that also to a in class setting. Just remember you can do it!

All the best to everyone taking this insane class! Is anyone else studying tissue types yet? I thought maybe I would make it until we pulled out about 47 slides of tissue samples that ALL look like alike under the microscope, except maybe neurons. For the exam she said 20 microscopes will be set up with unlabeled slides. We'll identify the tissue, function, and location.

In theory, anyways. :)

We have touched on this alittle bit in my virtual class but not a whole lot. I know I have 7 labs to do here at home which involves, jello, egg, marshmellows, etc. I have to write reports for them to what my findings are, what fun!

By the way the website that was shared by Smartferret has been a godsend. I started using all the quizes to help in studying for my upcoming test. While her book is slightly different than the one I have, it has been wonderful, so if no one has had a chance to look at it you may want to.

OMG...8 chapters? I'm lucky...we complete a chapter, and then he gives a test. Everyone agreed that this would be an easier approach.

That is my only saving grace. I'm trying to do well up-front in case I get into trouble down the line.

I knew this was coming when I saw those two labs of Histology on my syllabus. If you come up with any novel ways to differentiate and identify them be sure and post them here!!!!

Glad you are finding it helpful. I love the crosswords as they make me feel like I'm taking a break when I'm actually still studying. (Much more productive than an hour of Guild Wars as a diversion).

Hi everyone, just want to join the club. I start A&P June 4th with lab every morning for 8 weeks. My book has 24 chapters. I'm a little scared. Hopefully it will be OK.

Specializes in Oncology, Palliative care.

I feel your pain, I start Monday the 4th at 8am and our text has 29 chapters and 8 weeks to do it. There is no way they can do everything in that book......at least that's what I"m hoping :)

Heck I just finished Chemistry over a regular semester and we never touched on the last 5 chapters in the book........

Oh my goodness! I have a hard time with the slides too! It's like she cut a square out of a map and we are supposed to look at it and tell her where it's from! I don't have a problem with companct bone, blood or neurons. I'm lost when it comes to epithelial and muscel tissue. My test is Wednesday! Good luck to you!
