Ivy Tech Valpo NCLEX pass rate?
Hi I currently attend Ivy Tech in Gary and am applying for fall admission into their ASN program, as well as Ivy Tech Valpo. I attended the information session this morning and was schocked when the head of the nursing department told us that the pass rate for their graduates taking the NCLEX RN exam was 73%. The pass rate for their LPN's is 98%. Doesn't 73% seem very low? Since I am applying to the Valpo campus as well I was wondering if anyone knew what their pass rate was. I will hopefully gain admission into both (all A's in prereqs and 93 on TEAS) and be able to choose. Gary is closer and would be more convenient. But from what I hear the clinicals at Valpo are all at nursing homes, while at Gary they are at the many hospitals in the area. Any information about the Valpo campus/program will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

A&P II Club, 2007
My professor is going so fast through through the cardiovascular system and I don't understand why. It's 3 very long chapters (blood, heart, blood vessels) and she's just flying through it in less than 2 weeks. The day she covered the heart in class we immediately went to lab and did our sheep heart dissection, and everyone was so confused because we just started the chapter weren't that familiar with the heart anatomy yet. I'm used to going fast but I think this system is very important for us soon to be nurses, and feel like I'm not getting what I should out of it. I'm doing well and have gotten all A's so far but I'm more concerned with what I'm comprehending than a grade. We still have 17 classes left and only 6 more chapters to cover, this doesn't make sense to me. Sorry I'm just frustrated. On top of that I have to write a 7 page research paper on the etiology of health issues associated with rape for this class that's due next week also. :uhoh3:Thanks for listening.

Any Ivy Tech Gary or Valpo students?
Hi I'm going to apply for spring admission to Ivy Tech Gary and Valpo. My question is do all the prereq's need to be completed before I apply? The website says they have to be done before the start of the program, but someone from the nursing dept. said they have to be done by Sept. 1 (app deadline for spring admission). I just don't want to over do it this summer by taking A&P 1 and 2. Those are the only prereq's I need and would like to take 1 this summer and 2 in the fall. Can anyone help me out?

Illinois schools South Suburban College
Good luck! I am meeting with a nursing counselor there on Tuesday. If all goes as planned I will be applying this fall for spring '08 admission. I went there yesterday and talked to a regular counselor and he seemed to not know much about the program, so maybe you can help me. As far as prereq's go are A&P 1 and 2 part of them? The catalog says only A&P 1 is a prereq, but the website says both are. Also, on the website Microbio was listed as a prereq, but not in the catalog. So I'm just wondering which one is accurate, the website, or catalogue. Thanks

I'm surprised that Daley doesn't have a CNA prereq, I'm sure that will be changing soon. Olive Harvey and Kennedy King aren't accredited programs so I haven't even looked at them. As for Rush and UIC, both excellent programs, but are BSN programs, which don't usually require CNA. I'm only looking for ADN programs so I can be done in 2 years, and have my BSN paid for by whichever hospital I sign on with. It sounds like you have just recently been looking for a program, were you able to find any with spring admissions in Chicagoland area? I am transferring from Malcolm X to South Suburban because they are starting spring and fall admissions in Jan '08, but am still looking for other options.

As of January 1 2007, every ADN program in Chicago has CNA as a prereq. It sucks, I wish I could have applied in fall 06

Programs with spring admissions in Chicagoland
Hello to everyone! Does anyone know of any programs in or around Chicago/N.W. Indiana with spring admission into an ADN or AAS nursing program? Has anyone recently applied to SSC? The only one I have found is South Suburban College. The problem is that SSC has different prereq's from most other programs around. All associate programs require a CNA cert. now, but SSC also wants NLN PAX,AP1 and 2, and Microbiology, along with Chem, math for nurses, and psych 101. I currently attend Malcolm X, and will be done with my prereq's there this summer, but they only have fall admission, so I will have to wait till fall '08 to start. My problem is in order to apply for spring '08 at SSC I will have to take a CNA course, AP1, and math for nurses this summer. Then in the fall I will have to take AP2, Chem, and Microbiology. The fall semester just seems like it's going to be impossible, and I don't want to screw up my 3.8 GPA. Does anyone know of other spring admission programs? What if I don't get accepted into SSC, then I will have busted my ass just to wait around till fall '08. Please give me some advice, I am willing to travel to the burbs or go to a comm. college in Indiana. It's all so frustrating and confusing. Thanks for any help you can give me, Marci
