Grand Canyon University RN to BSN Reviews

Nursing Students School Programs Nursing Q/A

Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.

Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.

Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.

Anyone available for advice on the capstone? I am on week one and just want to run my thoughts by this group.

First, the literature selection assignment calls for a rapid evaluation of the chosen articles and I am finding that this is still extremely long!! How did everyone set this up? I was thinking that I would use the article title as a first level header and then place the evaluation below it. The citation would follow the paragraph and then reference page at the end. Does this sound like a good plan. I am mostly concerned about the citation. The entire paragraph is paraphrased from the article so the citation would end the paragraph….. Correct?

The instructors states that anyway I want to set it up as long as there is headings, title page, citations, and a reference page. No other provided information besides this.

Second, next week's assignment is the literature review. This is going to be long as well but the instructor stated that content is more important than word count. I had a question as to how I should format this as well. My 15 articles are a mixture of research articles, information article (The Future of Nursing), and 4 articles that add expanded information to the topic. The first way I can set it up is by placing each review in the order they would appear in the reference page (alphabetical order). This just doesn't seem like it would be conducive to the story I want to tell. I think I would place them in order to tell the story:

1st - the future of nursing setting the background

2-10 - research article proving my research question

11-15 – providing additional valued information

This just seems the correct progression of the story or argument. What do you think? Any suggestion would be fantastic!!!

I know when I did mine there was an example of the format the reviews should be in (for the long review, week 2) I followed the example and yes I believe it was in order of how the reference page was laid out

Yes I see the example and will complete it this way but just wondering about the order in which to put the literature reviews. I will place them in alphabetical order and be done with it. Planning on completing this over the break to take pressure off of me in January. Thanks for the input.

Yes, alphabetical. I didn't and the prof told me otherwise. I had to rearrange the entire thing. Thankfully I asked before submission.

Did the prof give you examples?

I just developed it and handed that in with my final question. In APA format, of course.

Hello everyone. The time has come, all I have left is the capstone project, I was wondering if any of you can PM suggestions for some good capstone instructors.

I took longer then most, I took 2 week breaks between classes, but I feel as though it saved my sanity to do so.

I'd love to know this as well!! I'm only 3 classes and 1 week away from being done. I'd love to know great capstone project instructors!
