Members are discussing the accreditation and acceptance of BSN and MSN degrees from GCU in different states, particularly focusing on the requirement of a preceptorship for BSN programs. There are concerns about certain states not accepting GCU BSN degrees, while others share experiences with the capstone course and offer tips for scholarly activities. Additionally, there is mention of GCU transitioning back to a non-profit status and the impact of this change on students.
Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.
Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.
Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.
Ok...I maybe promise this will be my complaint about this Spirituality class!! Personhood chart...worth 10 points?!?! Pretty sure I won't be doing that!! Definitely not worth my time. Also...I hate when GCU gives us assignments that aren't in our reading! Really?? I'd be happy to do it all if it was in the textbooks given...but no! Grrrrrrr.......

Yes it is insignificant but it really was nothing to complete. Just look up the beliefs for each group and place it in the chart. The information was in the book somewhere and I also used goggle. Took me 20 minutes I think and got all 10 points. If you have spare time I would do it quick but otherwise just let it go.

I did it last night...It took me about 45 minutes. I would consider myself quite slow on anything I have to read, comprehend, and write about...now, math I'd do all day at a steady pace! I may be in the wrong career field...ha! This class is just not for me and I will be so happy for it to end...actually, I'll be SUPER excited when I'm done altogether in May!!! :)
Ditto on the "this class is just not for me..." Being that I am neither religious or spiritual, I really did not enjoy Spirituality but I, like others said they did, just played the game and got my A.
In Ethics now and can't say this one is my favorite either especially given that the CLC project has 3 parts. Bad enough to have to deal with a CLC but this one has 3 parts and you have to write 2 group papers. I can't even imagine how a paper is going to be done or how it will even flow with the different writing styles. I think that I am going to have to relax my standards on this CLC and not do the usual killing of myself editing/correcting others' work!
And now back to Ethics DQs - I can procrastinate no more!! LOL
UUUUUGGGGG, I can't wait to be done with this program. The longer I am in the program the more I have learned to dislike it. I messaged my current instructor for AMP-450 about expectations for week 2 paper and in return she responded with a one line comment that had nothing to do with the paper. Then she states "hope this helps"..
What? Grrrrrr... you haven't answered anything, and no the crappy response couldn't help anyone... Get you head out of your.... never mind, not worth getting upset.

mine let us choose between a paper or a Powerpoint....PPT all the way,lol
I asked how the assignment should be completed. Do I produce a proposal giving information inducing an increase in teamwork and morale or do I introduce a fictitious initiative to implement an education and leadership program or plan? The assignment just states to develop a proposal and she said in her announcements to "remember that this is a proposal, be concise". So I asked what she meant and I got nothing back.
A paper would be fine but I don't understand the proposal aspect and how to proceed. Uuuuugggg...... She gave no indication about a PPT.

easier to do in a PPT (believe my prof highly recommended a PPT over a paper...bless her heart,lol)....I picked # 1 and #6..as they sort of go hand in hand and then just answered the questions that were put forward, backed up with solid references..which of course #4..2 had to come from the readings. Sorry, probably no help, I think you may be looking too deeply into it. Best of luck
oh wow if I didn't take a break we could have been in the same class! So ethics sounds interesting... -_-

7 kids!!! I have to give it up to you my friend!!
Yes, it is doable and yes, you will be busy. :)I work 36 hours a week, but typically pull in well over 50 with education, leadership and union stuff. I have 7 kids with five at home. One is special needs and during school, my husband had some serious health issues. There were days I felt pretty stretched, but I sucked it up and kept on moving forward. I only took two breaks, which allowed me to get certain sought after instructors. My kids did feel the brunt of my schooling. Movies and regular outings were a rarity, but they knew it was short lived. My husband, on his good days, cleaned and cooked. My house didn't look the best, and it took me months to get my flower beds and house in order, lol, but I graduated with my BSN!

Yes, I am sure that I am over thinking the assignment. I plan on using 1 and 6 as well. I can pull from the weekly readings for the leadership part and I have research articles stating increased education and improved communication to solve burnout issues. I just need to get it done. On a positive note I sat in on a committee meeting last night so I will be starting on next weeks paper Saturday or Sunday. I would like to rest over the holiday.
