Grand Canyon University RN to BSN Reviews

Nursing Students School Programs Nursing Q/A

Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.

Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.

Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.

Yikes!! I started Spirituality this week and, honestly, I already do not enjoy it at all! I will try my best in it though!

Yep the only way to survive.

Have they really revamped the class? I haven't taken it yet, so I guess I will will be none the wiser!

I had a discussion with my instructor this spring. He said the class needed to be redone. He asked me some questions regarding different portions, which I answered quite honestly. Wasn't sure afterwards if that was a good or bad thing to do. Turned out to not be a bad thing, as I didn't fail. lol

Yes I believe they have totally revamped the class but it shouldn't matter much to you. All you will know is the class before you not what it was in the past. The problem I had was asking for help or advice here; no one could help because they had different assignments.

Passing the class isn't a problem, I passed without an issue. My issue was that the instructor I had was not great. He actually asked why most of the class included citations from other sources and stated that he only wanted us to use the provided resources. Didn't make sense. He also docked me points because in one paper I did not cite/reference all the sources from that weeks readings. I referenced 5 of them but not the sixth. Say what???? When was it required to cite/reference all the weeks reading sources?

I still passed with an easy 'A' even though I pulled much of the hair off my head.

I'm in it now! It is ridiculous honestly...1000 word papers or 20 points?! The paper doesn't seem to be worth my time! I am having a hard time covering all the areas in the rubric with only 1000 words and he put in the announcements that if it is 100 words over the requirement he will send it back for us to edit! :-/ 5 weeks...5 weeks...5 weeks!! Well, 4 weeks now!! :)

Is this spirituality?

Is this spirituality?

I guess one best be praying, lol At least the prof lets one know the word count expectations! Takes a lot more planning/organizing on a strict word count........Soon it will be over..........

I learned to be very direct and literal. Reference each point in the rubric and do not be fluffy. I think each paragraph answered each point in order without long descriptions. I used the bible verses found in the online textbook to prove my points. I did not search the bible in the slightest. Like I said, regurgitate what they want and be done with it.

This class really put in perspective the learning expectations of this program.

I barely made it out of that class with an A. My prof was very strict. Not so much with word count, but APA and flow
