Additionally, there is mention of GCU transitioning back to a non-profit status and the impact of this change on students.

Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.

Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.

Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.

Congratulations!!! Which MSN program are you looking at?

And one tip that I taught myself - you know how every now and then you'll read someone's reply and it doesn't even remotely have anything to do with the student's comment that they attached their reply to? That was me .

I hated this!!!!!!

"Hi SusieQ, great post, interesting insight on ___, I wasn't aware of that! While researching for this DQ, I also learned that ______" (fill in your previous fact & cite it). DONE.

Well this is a little different. I hated the ones that wouldn't even acknowledge my post and add to it. Their post was so off the wall and had nothing to do with what I posted about that it was obvious that they just pulled something out of their ____ . Your way seems much better and saved some time. Wish I would have known about this before the end.....

Ive also seen tips of those who post their 2 initial DQ on Monday and then 2 responses for the next 3 days. This would have saved so much frustration so Ill be doing this in the next class. Any other tips you all might have? Anyone taking spirituality starting tomorrow? I may end up in the Statistics class, but I'm not sure if there would be an issue with taking that course before stats. Anyhow, glad to be here and thanks in advance!

I agree with PrismRN about selecting an instructor. Just follow the rubric and do the work and get out. Be aware of the little issues each instructor has.

One tip I have that I shared on the other GCU topic in the forum..... When you are writing about a specific topic go to the pageburst home screen, where it shows all your books, there is a search bar there. You can search through each book at once for that topic referenced. You can reference more than one text book and this turned out to be a real time saver.

Some have problems with stats other don't. I thought it was real easy but others here struggled. I think it is because I come from a math background and understand the language. A coworker just finished stats and she also said it wasn't a problem. The problem existed because she thought she was doing something wrong because it seemed too easy. To each it's own.

I would post your two initial posts on Monday (I complete mine on Sunday) then 2 posts Tuesday, 2 posts Wednesday, and 2 posts Thursday. One instructor dinged me points because I didn't post enough posts on enough days. It was stupid because at the end of the week I posted more than the minimum posts and I posted 6 days those weeks..... She was nuts.

Good luck.

MEE TOO! I just finished this past Sunday. Maybe we were in the same class? Congrats!!! I Went to Disneyland the next day! LOL!
Uh oh! I start Ethics in 2 days. I haven't looked to closely yet at the assignments but saw that there is the usual PITA assignment - the always dreaded CLC project! And it looks like there are different parts due each week. Great, can't wait!!
I liked the Ethics class best but had a good instructor that added conversation too (not required added questions but just to keep us thinking). Maybe you will like it, who knows. Good Luck!

It really isn't that bad, I am just not liking my instructor. I appreciate her feedback, but she grades most work as unsatisfactory no matter what and I truly believe it is because she doesn't believe in the same things as I do. I have a 4.0 GPA and this class (my 6-7th class) will definitely not be an A. I was really upset, but tomorrow is the last day of the class and I am over it...kind of lol!

I also found stats to be easy, but I do come from a math background and I have tutored students in math since middle school. On the other hand...I despise English and writing papers is not fun for me at all! I've been told most MSN programs are papers as well, so I probably will not go on after this unfortunately.

Thanks for the tip for searching within all of the books! I will try this in my next class. :)

Wait till the new and improved Spirituality class..... Just a hint, no matter your 'beliefs' just regurgitate what they want to hear and be done with it. :roflmao:

An ethics Prof needs to have an open mind and the 1 I took many summer ago, sure was not! For fun I took the more controversial side of things, sort of to get the other sides view on it, and was not the view shared by the prof and her comments reflected that! I can understand if a paper is poorly written, but to take away marks because one does not agree with ones view, just is not right!

That is right!! i am a religious person and i thought i would enjoy and do good in this class, but it was the opposite!! my instructor made it difficult for the class, there were a few that protested on the public forum and she had to redirect them to post privately if they had complaints about her and the class:no:

Yikes!! I started Spirituality this week and, honestly, I already do not enjoy it at all! I will try my best in it though!
