Members are discussing the accreditation and acceptance of BSN and MSN degrees from GCU in different states, particularly focusing on the requirement of a preceptorship for BSN programs. There are concerns about certain states not accepting GCU BSN degrees, while others share experiences with the capstone course and offer tips for scholarly activities. Additionally, there is mention of GCU transitioning back to a non-profit status and the impact of this change on students.
Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.
Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.
Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.
HI Flames9_RN
I HAVE MY LAST TWO CLASSES HLT 308 AND AMP 450 AND I WAS HOPING AND PRAYING YOU COULD GUIDE ME IN WHICH PROFESSORS YOU HAD TAKEN FOR THOSE 2 CLASSES
KIND REGARDS AHEAD OF TIME.
This doesn't fall under keeping group work under controlâ€, but I also found making sure everything is done in the forum is helpful. Had one group where she totally did the incorrect topic. I made sure every last bit of our convo about it was in a thread in the forum, including her response to a post with the rubric outline that specifically addressed her portion, stating that she did it correctly (NOT!). That same group had a whole thread at the end addressing the rubric – and two of us volunteering to do the portion that was not covered at all (guess who was assigned to that?).
yes keep all communication in the colour forum....so the prof can see whats going on.....I also included stuff on APA and the GCU how to Powerpoint, lol
Oh my goodness. Just finished my second class last week, and spent literally hours fixing other people's APA citations. I thought you were just being hyperbolical Tokmom, when you said you and Pandora had spent hours doing that. And when I explained to the girl whose citations were the worst what I had done and why I had done it, she said that that is what she had been going the whole class and she hadn't gotten marked down! I wanted to ask her what her definition of "not marked down" was, but I didn't.
Nope, I'm a realist. I didn't have to exaggerate! LOL.
It wasn't until my second class that I was informed of my APA errors. I wish the prof would have said something with the first class. I don't think it's fair to those that do understand APA down to the last comma, to have to correct other's mistakes.
I only know APA because I bought the PERRLA software back in 2004. I've done enough citations now I can do them on my own for simple stuff, but PERRLA has been my friend through a lot of classes now. Hey I've got a teacher to add to the bad list, if anyone's keeping track. Also, I had one from the bad list for my other class, and she turned out great.
Greetings beautiful team,
Oh, how I have missed being in this track. Work is so overwhelming but so gratifying. I was in BSN program w/ GCU and when I changed jobs and I had to drop school. (I was 6 classes from being done.) And here I am a year later coming in December and I feel so cheated and guilty at myself for letting down this part of me. I have spoken to my supervisor of returning to school various times and she has told me that she wouldn't be able to guarantee my patient load unless I go part-time. Well, I can't do p/t either and loose benefits. (I am a hospice nurse and having to be on call for 3 days and one weekend a month is part of the requirement.) But a great part of me so wants to fulfill this last part of my goal. Now life has taken a turn, again and I am about to become a new grandma.
Things are about to change at work again with software so I am hoping that will be my opportunity to resume this personal goal. It's so interesting just how this has taken a private emotional toll, depression. Very much so.
I am not getting any younger, but I do feel at times getting angrier and sadder.
I just needed to vent my sweets, thank you all for being so good here. I have missed you all, encouraging and fighting and crying with one another and cheering on!!
I need to return soon, very soon to this wonderful forum as an enrolled pupil at GCU.
Thanks again, and continue loving on!!
Connie! I'm sorry you had to drop school. Maybe with just six classes left you can power through and be finished?
half way done!!! Don't give up!! I found GCU to be fairly flexible---that is if ur paying out of pocket.... Nothing wrong with 1 class at a time.......

You can do it! You are an awesome student. Just put one week in front of the other!
Thank you!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! I cannot wait to get out of this Ethics class! This is by far the worst I have gone through and I have until next Sunday to go. I literally want to cry every time I turn in a paper.

Do the best you can and know that you have.
