A big, fat CPNE failure here

I'm on my way home.

Failed PCS one bacuse while I did everything perfectly I didn't write down the reason I chose my priority nursing diagnosis.

Failed numbee 2 because, while I checked the guys skin under the NC I didn't document it.

Failed IV push on a dummy because they said I was going too fast.

I'm going home. And they didn't have to fail me on the lab. I WAS pushing at the correct rate.

I am sooooo sorry you didn't pass. Just try and regroup. It's hard no doubt about it, I know they are doing what they are suppose to do, but I think some of these things are a little picky. Would you fail in a traditional school for not documenting. No, they would just have you go back and sign it or give you a chance to make it up. I wish they could give you a chance to correct things that are small. I know if you don't document you didn't do it, but they could at least give you an oppurtunity to fix what you have done wrong. It is very stressful you make mistakes you wouldn't normally make, not to mention the cost. Again I'm sorry.:crying2:

It's okay, suesquatch. I don't know what to tell you to make you feel any better, but I am still rooting for you for the next time. This is in no way indicative of what kind of RN you will be--excellent, competent, skilled, knowledgeable nurses fail this CPNE thing an awful lot. Thank you for posting your experience, though.

I'm so sorry to hear about your CPNE!!!! I know you probably want to scream but remember this: You will know what they expect next time and it was a good learning experience- right? Congrats for being brave enough to take it. Make sure to write down everything you can remember so you can review those things as the next CPNE date approaches. Did you forget those things because of nerves or because you didn't know?
