A big, fat CPNE failure here

Published

I'm on my way home.

Failed PCS one bacuse while I did everything perfectly I didn't write down the reason I chose my priority nursing diagnosis.

Failed numbee 2 because, while I checked the guys skin under the NC I didn't document it.

Failed IV push on a dummy because they said I was going too fast.

I'm going home. And they didn't have to fail me on the lab. I WAS pushing at the correct rate.

I am so sorry sue. This was a great learning experience for you and all of us here. You will ace it the next time. I have faith in you.

So sorry about the bad news. I'm sure you will ace it next time. My cousin failed the CPNE the first time around as well. She said the second time would be easy because you already know what they expect of you.

Good luck sue and I will pray for you.

Shoot, I'm so saddened to hear this. I checked back in today to see how everything went for you... For the cost of the CPNE, it would be so nice if EC could at least offer a practice day, to start out the weekend, in the presence of an instructor. Just imagine what that could do to the student stress level, being able to walk thru it once and ask any last minute questions. I don't know if that's unreasonable-- but we are all in the same boat and here for support. Hope today is a better day.

I'm feeling a lot better. Nothing at ALL was wrong with my patient care so that heartens me. Once again, I'm a lousy paperwork person. I'll have it nailed for the next one.

I am so sorry Sue.

I know it costs sooo much money and that can create a hardship, but do it again - you will pass it! In the end, it will be worth it. You are worth it! :nurse:

You will PASS next time. I know you can do it. Next time you know what to expect. Don't get discourage, it takes alot to even be able to get as far as you did. You are an AWSOME nurse.

I am so sorry hugs to you! Please don't think of yourself as a failure. You are one of the people I admire most on this post. As I can relate as a fellow nurse who got her license at an older age. I also sometime have trouble with the paperwork.

Sue....everyone here is pulling for you. You made mistakes anyone could make under that much pressure. Take a deep breath, get centered, and go! :hngon:

Thanks, everyone. I'm feeling MUCH better today. A little bitter, but that will actually help me.

Sue,

So sorry to hear about your CPNE. I know how stressful that exam is...I took it in January 2007. By the grace of God, I passed it..but I still vividly remember the stress of those 2 and a half days in Plano. People cannot understand the stress level until they have taken that exam. But you HAVE taken it , so now you know EXACTLY what to expect the next time around. I know several people who didn't make it the first time they tested...but kicked @*$ when they went back for round two. You will, too !! Good luck and God Bless!!
