So sad. She was such a giving and knowledgeable person. Her presence here will be greatly missed. Her legacy lives on in the lives of all the students she helped.

So sad, she will be missed. To be so helpful and supportive to a community of complete strangers is truly remarkable. I always felt like I had a mentor and a friend ready to help as I journeyed through school. Thankfully, her wisdom may be immortalized in her posts.

We were blessed to have Joyce (Daytonite) as a treasured member of this board for as long as we did. She gave unstintingly of her time and wisdom and helped so many--students, new nurses, seasoned nurses--with her amazing wealth of knowledge and her insistence that people give their best. She was our example in that, for she gave us her best, even when illness laid her low.

I always pictured her in a starched white dress and cap, immaculate and professional. She tempered her high expectations with a level of assistance that rivaled any instructional book on the market. Joyce had an incredible talent for turning student chaos (hopelessly muddled care plans) into lessons that made sense to the shell-shocked. She educated many. Hundreds of nurses and thousands of patients will benefit for years to come because of her efforts.

I will miss her so much!

How sad! My thoughts and prayers go out to her family. My God give her family strength to endure their loss, may He also welcome her home to rest.Though have not been a member of this group long, came to value Daytonite's posts as almost always spot on and full of excellent advice. A true class act all the way. Her legacy will be the students and other nurses she helped along in the profession. In time they to will pass along this knowledge and the circle begins a new.Pace. wow,i'm so sorry to hear that..she was so smart,kind and good with students...her posts were so informative...i send my prayer to the family...this poem is in your memory daytonite;

[color=#4f6aa4]the peace prayer

lord, make me an instrument of thy peace;

where there is hatred, let me sow love;

where there is injury, pardon;

where there is error, the truth;

where there is doubt, the faith;

where there is despair, hope;

where there is darkness, light;

and where there is sadness, joy.

o divine master,

grant that i may not so much seek

to be consoled, as to console;

to be understood, as to understand;

to be loved as to love.

for it is in giving that we receive;

it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;

and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. amen.

she is one of few experienced nurses who knew just about all the tricks of her profession, had just about every experience any new or experienced nurse could encounter in the work place, and was very transforming and inspiring to those of us who are trying to grow as nurses. she answered most of my stupid questions when i first started posting in '05 as a pre-nursing student through my first year as a new grad. she will be greatly missed!:crying2:
