I cannot stop crying Daytonite was one of my guiding angels while I was in nursing school. I used her format of clinical pathway to understand the disease process. I have been on this site for over ten years now and it hit me really, really hard. I used Daytonite words as gospel in nursing. She was one of the most dedicated, respected, smart, and professional human being ever. May her soul rest in peace. I will treasure the memories of daytonite because she was like pearl found in a deep rugged terrain.

    Very sad news.

Hi Brian? Could we make a sticky called "The Best of Daytonite" with some of her best advice as a tribute to her? That way, future students could benefit from her advice.

It is very sad to hear. I did not always agree with her, but she was one bright and tough nurse. It was generous of her to take her time and share her expertise with so many. She will be welcomed in heaven and very missed on Earth. She is probably getting a pat on the back from the likes of Florence Nightingale, Dorothea Orem, and Clara Barton.

God bless you, my sister. You paid it forward to so many people. You will be sorely missed. Condolences to Joyce's family. :redpinkhe

Joyce was what I'd call a 'nurse's nurse'. She was kind and compassionate, but also had a tough streak that wouldn't allow anyone---whether student OR experienced nurse---to get away with saying "I can't" or making weak excuses for failing to do the necessary work of learning.

While I rejoice that her struggles and her pain are at an end, I'm saddened by her passing. She will be missed here at allnurses. I pray her family will find comfort in the many posts from our members in her online guestbook.

Sleep now, dear friend, and take your rest. Lay your tired brow upon the Master's breast. As He would say, "Well done, good and faithful servant".

I was worried since I hadn't seen much from her lately, and knew she had been dealing with some health issues. Her posts were invaluable to me while I was a student. Sad thing to read...

    Such sad news.

I too benefited from "Daytonite's" advice and think it should be part of allnurses forever - so the idea of a stickey with Joyce's words is a great idea.

My prayers are with her family.
