Hi! I am from California too. I graduated out of the country. I am really hoping to get an ER residency. Could you please describe it in detail? I am hoping and keeping my fingers crossed not to mention praying I get in.

I am a single mom and I would like to know the hours so I can plan ahead just in case. I hope I am not assuming too much...lol...

Did you not apply for residency at California State University San Diego?

a big WOW! Its not easy going to the VA

I graduated in May 2012, took NCLEX in August 2012

It took me 2 years since grad to land 1st nursing job--even with a BSN

I started job in April 2014 in psych.

Graduated in May 2014, passed NCLEX July 2014, Started my first job September 2014, still working there and hopefully will be for a long time.

Edited to add, its on a surgical floor in a local hospital.

Specializes in Home care.

Same boat here. did you finally get a job?

Graduated May 2012 in MS, NCLEX June 2012, job February 2014 in CA (Antelope Valley), hundreds of applications, 4 interviews in MS and 2 in CA

I did move in April 2013 from MS to CA (military move), otherwise I could have had a nursing home home job March 2013. I now have a break nurse position (4 hours a night, 5 days a week). This was perfect at the time since I had just had a baby, but now I want part- or full-time. I've been trying for the past 3 months with no luck yet.

I graduated in May 2013 took my boards in June had a job end of July but it wasn't a hospital job. Worked at that place for little over a year and now I'm working the the hospital on a surgical unit :) so about a year & 1/2 to get into the hospital

Specializes in Home care.

BriManRN... where did you work if you don't mind me asking before you entered as an RN in the hospital? I have an offer to work as LVN here in SoCal at a nursing/assisted living facility. Any thoughts if this is a right track to get experience and get in at a hospital further on? thanks!
