Also getting licensed in Alabama is extremely easy compared to the Florida process...there's Mobile Infirmary, Thomas Infirmary, USA Women's & Children's & Providence all in the Mobile Area. Expand your search and try to reach out to HR departments at Sacred Heart & Baptist Hospital for career fairs if you want to stay in the Pensacola area...Good Luck!

Oh I understand why they do this...but there's an emotional disconnect. It is a lot easier for HR & hiring managers to click a button than talk to the applicant. I never received a rejection call either...but I feel like it would be better.

All of your professors are fantastic and I'm not just saying that. When you're in the Accelerated Program you are held to a higher standard and they will expect you to learn quickly and apply newly learned knowledge. If you don't understand something then ask questions in class and if you continue to struggle stay after class for a few moments and speak to your professors. They are willing to help you out...especially if you are doing your part!

I have both ACLS & PALS. If you have a good foundation is BLS then you should be fine. I had great teachers through AHA and focused on big concepts and the main principles you will use when employing PALS.

This. Focus on what makes you a good candidate and why the shorter orientation wouldn't overwhelm you.

I've applied to jobs in Georgia, Alabama and Florida and received interviews in all three states. I think most employers would like to see the applicant in person, but as many have stated before some will interview by phone/computer. I am preparing to move for a job offer that I received out of state...so it does happen...just realize that for a new nurse relocation assistance may not be available because new nurses come a dime a dozen. I applied to 200+ jobs online...you can't mess up your chances for jobs that you applied for online because there's no guarantee that you will ever hear anything from them. Put yourself out there and if you don't hear anything from them at least you have some interview experience under your belt.

Texas has one of the longest processes out there...some states are easier to obtain a license for example Alabama is relatively easy, but Florida and Georgia require fingerprints and a background check which may take a few extra days to process. I'm licensed in all three states that were previously mentioned...so just research where you think you want to be and what they require.

I applied to 200+ jobs! And it still took a considerable time to get an interview. Apply for any and everything that you're willing to do! I actually expanded my job to two other neighboring states and that's where I experienced the greatest success...keep applying. Apply every day and tweak your resume.

Wow...just wow...I would never think to do this BUT if I did...I would definitely not tell the manager that this was my intention!! Did you let her go immediately?

I actually want the manager to call me if I didn't get the job....I feel like it is kind of gutless just to send me a canned rejection letter. I feel like if I did spend the time then you can at least carve out 2 minutes in your day saying...I'm sorry but.... I interviewed at hospital recently with a manager who was very nice, but felt like he could skate around the rule for peer-interviews. Well, I had to return a second time for interviews with the nurse staff---they were very nice but it did take considerable time return to the hospital because he felt like he could just make the decision without following the rules imposed by HR. So a 2 minute phone call would have been nice..

Two weeks. Make sure you read the directions and include all the necessary paperwork. The longest part was the fingerprinting because that's done with an outside company.
