Yah alot of people told me the same thing when I got my LVN license & I found a really good pedi job then. It was alil hard to find a job after graduating because it was peak graduation time for all the area schools but I ended up getting a hook up from a friend. I had to convince the manager that while I'm a new RN I also had LVN & tech experience. So I think being a LVN helps. Any questions feel free to ask...it does help to hear it from someone who went through the same program. Just fyi...I hear they were gonna change the 1st semester so you might not have to do the review skills week before acceptance but not 100%sure on that.

I think there may have been about 60 or so applicants. Some didn't get in because they missed the deadline or paperwork didn't have the correct date on it. As long as you have everything needed on the checklist then you should be fine. When I went back they had a review class before sending out acceptance letters but for the most part everyone got in who was offered the review class.

Thought I would give a little insight for those of y'all applying to El Centro's bridge. I graduated from El Centro for my LVN back in '11 & then went back for the bridge program Spring '13. I graduated last May (can't believe it's already been a yr). The 1st semester was only the LVN's since we were bridging & then in the Fall we entered in w/ the "traditional" RN students. It says on the application to have at least 6 months experience but as long as you've been working as a LVN you just need to get a letter from employer stating where/how longh you have worked at current job. I understand your dilemma. I also got my license in July & have my ADN. I've applied to intern spot after intern spot with no luck. My next step is to apply to home health & start that way possibly. I've tried recently some skilled nursing & rehab centers but no feedback yet. I have heard (not sure if this is correct or not) that after getting experience you can still apply for intern positions for the specialty of your interest. Only tricky thing is to get that 1st job to get the experience.

I am a new RN grad still looking for a RN job and will be re-interviewing for a med-surg position tomorrow. I had an interview with the same hiring manager back before I graduated in May. However, during the previous interview the hiring manager kept mentioning that this position will only be a six week orientation and is not "typical" for new grads. (6 weeks doesn't bother me because that's how long I had when I started as a new LVN) The manager also mentioned that she is hesitant to hire new grads because of past experiences. A friend of mine helped me get the interview back in May & helped me contact this manager recently. So here's my question....How do I impress/"knock the socks off" this hiring manager to give me a chance on her med-surg unit. I would love an intern position (as would all new grads) but they don't begin again until Jan/Feb. I really would like med-surg because I know it will provide a great learning experience and I can always go back for an intern spot after gaining some experience. I have worked as a tech on a med-surg unit for nearly 10 years before becoming a pedi LVN. I have been doing practice interviews all weekend but would greatly appreciate any advice. Thanks

I emailed the recruitor on the 19th to follow up on the status of my interview & applications under review. Here's what she responded.."The nurse residency positions for October has all been offered and filled." Then Monday I got the official no job offer email. I've tried another recruitor to find out about some RNI openings but sadly no response. This is the sucky part of job hunting

So true never give up hope!! I know 3 years is a long contract & I have heard that the main reason for it being so long is because of the turn over rate. Good luck to you on your NCLEX!!

Well I emailed the recruitor this am just to follow up & see if she knew when emails were to sent out (I know a few people I graduated with got hire emails Monday/Tuesday). Her reply was "you were not selected for the position and to try again in February 2015". Super frustrating but it is what it is.

Thanks for the update....good to know something. So glad the recruiter's response wasn't simple & vague. I just wish if the decisions have been made they could send out the generic email saying 'sorry or congrats".

I interviewed Friday morning & haven't heard anything either. I asked how many resident positions they will be hiring & the lead interviewer told me they don't have a set number just depends on who they feel will work best for ER. I just hate waiting on the email to come. Hoping we all hear something good soon.

Hello to everyone, this is my first time to comment since joining but I've been reading all the responses. I interviewed on Friday for ER (I've applied to all resident openings but only got an interview for ER). They told me decisions would be made Friday & emails would go out this week. I've heard a few people who graduated w/me (this past May) got emails yesterday for ER. But so far I haven't heard anything. Still praying & hoping we all hear something soon...the waiting is the hard part. :/
