Some of you probably have seen a thread like this already.
I put this one up to "freshen-up" the forum.
I am pretty sure everyone has at least something they can throw up onto here.
So, I ask you fellow nursing student (or nursing student alumni)....what makes a Nursing student....erm...a Nursing student?
when you stand in line somewhere and start mentally making care plans for things i observe: impaired physical mobility related to unsteady gait.
when you notice at the beginning of a movie something as unimportant as someone giving themselves an insulin shot and no one else noticed then finding out its significance later in the movie...
You only see your friends every 8 weeks
You don't know any new songs because you listen to class lectures in the car
You're snuggled next to your significant other arm-in-arm, then start taking their radial pulse, then brachial, maybe even carotid while you're at it
Your significant other has become a practice dummy for every skill you learn
You finally understand what House is talking about (really!)
Watching Mystery Diagnosis becomes guess-the-diagnosis hour
You look at very elderly people at the store and think how blessed and lucky they are to be in good health and out in the world instead of in a home
There's at least one room in your house filled with textbooks, stacked with an insane amount of papers, power points, floor covered with pens, highlighters etc.
You plan meals based on how much time they will take to prepare and if the recipe involves chopping anything - forget about it!
You've never had an energy drink in your life and now they are your after-clinicals ritual (Yay for 5-hour energy!)
You stop studying every couple hours to walk around b/c you are scared you're going to get DVT
You go to the mall and feel like you have stepped into another world
You regularly get text messages that say "Remember me?" "When are we going out???" and "Are you dead?"
There is a laundry mountain in your laundry room.

Your answers are priceless and so dead on! (loved the House and DVT remarks, hahaha!)
The only thing I can add is...
You now value pockets like never before and have learned how much you can shove in them..
Your boyfriend breaks up with you! *starts singing, "so what, I'm still a rock star and got my rock moves and I don't need you!" (Pink)*
Your kid only says to you, "Mom are you about to study? Mom are you studying? Mom why aren't you studying?"
You pots and pans gather rust on them
No one even expects to see you during holidays
Eating out is a luxury
When you have notecards ready at any given moment to begin a session (store, bball game, date, etc.)
Awww thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:heartbeat It's been a tough week and on top of everything I was studying for a cummulative final and had my binder with all my practice questions and pp's and all my class papers outside and I ran in the house to switch loads and my husbands 1 year old dog (his dog not mine :) detroyed and covered my backyard in chewed up notes and power-points!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I salvaged a few but not much!!!!!!!
Oh wow. Extra stress not needed. Understood. I can only imagine how mad I'd be... You'll get through it. You'll laugh about it one day.
When, for a few days after finals, you feel as though you should be studying something, and feel guilty for not studying anything.
I spent half of my Christmas break doing that. And after I relaxed, I was stressing over not stressing. Nursing students are hard workers and feel naked when not working.
You know you're a nursing student when...
