You know you are a Nursing student when...

Some of you probably have seen a thread like this already.

I put this one up to "freshen-up" the forum.

I am pretty sure everyone has at least something they can throw up onto here.

So, I ask you fellow nursing student (or nursing student alumni)....what makes a Nursing student....erm...a Nursing student?

You know your a nursing student when you...

1. Study all night and go to sleep @ midnight just to wake up @3am to study some more before you leave for school.

2. 4:30am and you are quite acquainted.

3. Your meaning of a sinful indulgence is watching 1 episode of ur favorite show for the first time in months! lol

4. You run through high lighters quicker than you run through food.

5. You diagnosis everyone you meet with a terminal illness lol.

6. You secretly monitor your spouse's pulse and respirations while cuddling!

7. You wake up reciting medication names, ADR and contraindications...

8. When you feel guilty for taking a bath because that means less time spent studying.

You toss you glasses in the hamper, after a long week, but it takes several days to realize it because you don't have time for laundry.

I love this thread!

1. When you're digging in your purse for a tissue and keep coming up with alcohol swabs

2. When you can eat lunch with your school buddies and discuss bm, vomit, or other things about your patients that week

3. When your DVR is full with your favorite shows you haven't had a chance to watch

4. When you start writing everything in abbreviations and codes

5. When you wash your hands better, more often, and longer then anyone else in the bathroom

You dream about wound assessment...

Just happened to me a couple of nights ago.

-You reach into your purse for a pen, and pull out different types of pen lights instead.

-You fight with your clinical classmates over who gets to give the ppd shot to the point where your clinical instructor has write all your names down on a piece of paper and get a nurse tech to randomly draw one.

-your family all of a sudden thinks your an expert in everything medical and is asking your opinion on extremely embarrassing, personal health issues (no dad, I don't know why you're tasting weird things when you have a BM, you should probably see a doctor asap!)

-every time a friend or family member texts or calls to ask what you're doing, the answer is "studying", and you mean it!

-you start to hate medical shows like grey's anatomy because of how inaccurately they portray nurses and the healthcare system! Or you just want to talk about what they're doing wrong the entire time :-p

you have to dig thru a mountain of unfolded laundry every morning to find something to wear.....

i don't know what day of the week it is or what my bank balance is but i can tell you everything about fluids and electrolytes....

i'm getting fat from sitting and reading and studying so much but my arms have stayed toned from lugging around huge heavy nursing books....

i want to hurry up and take the test because i swear knowledge in leaking out of my ears because my head is so jam packed with theory. then i eject it out to make room for everything i have to learn for a new test....
