You should know better

Ok, AN, it's guilty pleasure time. What do you do that you know as a nurse you shouldn't? Chain smoke? Binge drink on the weekends? Lecture a patient on a healthy lifestyle then go home and slam down a whole mac-n-cheese pizza? Ride your kick-a** donorcycle to work? Do back flips on your trampoline while juggling swords?

Out with it!

Sometimes, especially after my long and busy work weeks, I'll spend Saturday doing absolutely.nothing. As in, wake up, eat breakfast, Netflix, play around online, random snack, nap...you get the picture. Those days, it's a miracle if I even do a load of laundry. And you're asked, pooh, did you do anything fun yesterday? And it's like, yeah, I Netflixed and introverted.

I think we were separated at birth :D

all of the above.

if not im not morbidly obese, suffering from withdrawals and DTs, or in the ICU then in my mind, i'm doing it right.:roflmao:

My habits are; (unhealthy is a matter of opinion and perspective, right?)

-really loud music as often as possible

-way too much coffee

-Scotch, Burboun, beer (Alaskan Amber or Rolling Rock), and dry red wine...some of that daily in varying quantities

-I am a smoker who is not currently smoking (x18 months so far this time)

-regular and frequent use of obscene language

-I have an addiction to Fritos and potato chips

-I also hate the DDS (they tortured me regularly as a child and now they might as well be clowns in a horror movie)

-I haven't purchased new eye glasses in over 5 years and hate to have my vision checked (really? which one is more clear ONE or TWO? they are both blurry and crooked)

-I spend way too much time on the internet

-I skip meals regularly and often only eat once daily

Most importantly, I am too lax and casual with matters of faith. I don't pray often enough or read the Word when I am down. I get annoyed and agitated rather than resting in the peace of the Lord.

Can't relate to the dentist, eating or the smoking, but congrats on 18 months clean!

As for the clowns, I really did not need to think about that before going to sleep.

The rest of your list? Check, Check, Check...

Candy. Lots and lots of candy, especially the chewy, fruity kind.

French fries, potato chips, Fritos, popcorn.

Red Bull on the nights I work. My Pepsi habit. I don't get yearly Pap smears.

Never have I ever read a thread that made me wanna knock back a few beers and grab a smoke as much as this.

Surgeon General warning: this thread is bad for your health.

I try to practice what I preach..but we are all human! In fact, I don't "preach", really. I think 99% of the population knows they shouldn't smoke. I'm not going to sit there and lecture you not to smoke when you've heard it all before and have no desire to quit..it's your life! Besides, like I said we are all human. I can't shake my head at a cirrhosis patient and then go home and have 4-5 beers.

1. I work nights. I never, ever get enough sleep.

2. I eat too much junk and am overweight.

3. I love Diet Coke (though I don't drink it too much because the withdrawals from it are horrid).

4. Can't remember the last time I went to the dentist.

5. Can't remember last time I went to the doctor for a check up.

6. I absolutely love to chew ice, to the point where I think I must be anemic or something. But who knows? (See #5).

7. Exercise? What's that?

I am not proud of any of my bad habits. In fact, at 43 I KNOW I need to change soon or face a progressive spiraling in my health and well-being. It's just tough sometimes to change what you've been doing for...well, forever.

I am honestly not afraid of dying. I am terribly afraid of being incapacitated or suffering with painful chronic conditions though.

I'm only human ! Anything with bacon ... I'd build a big bacon castle and eat my way out of it if I could

I look at the gym everyday but I don't go in. Oh wait I went last month for a massage but I walked by the exercise equipment real fast though. Hey that counts as exercise! Speed walking.

I was a smoker but quit that about 15 years ago.

I did go to the dentist for the first time in about 13 years last month too. Last month was a new beginning for me. Oh hey I went to the OB last month too! The last time I went was 3 years ago.

I've gone off my anxiety meds a few times. No side effects for stopping them abruptly. Then went crawling back to my GP to get a new script when my anxiety got bad again. This time I promised to stay on them or at least discuss with her before going off again.
