so, the hospital i work for was voted one of the top what ever, to work for. don't get me wrong, i think my job is ok. but, it's no different than any other hospital. we got a cute little bag of goodies, a bag with prtetzels, an apple and a granola bar . the bag of pretzels was the very small air line size. the apple was small thick skinned and bitter, the granola bar was high in fat and calories. but any who, we got it because the hospital was voted one of the top. of course the vote must have been done before, the decision to change the health care plan. the co -pays are higher, they cover less, and the rate went up a rediculous amount. i just think it's funny how the admin must think we don't have a brain of our own and believe that we get those stupid little bags and think,, wow, i'm so glad we work for such a good company and go skipping off about our merry way with a big grin on our face.....just to get yelled at in triage by pt's upset about heaven knows what , abused by pres-gainy all while we remember , during our 13 hour day with no break , how good of a place we work for. oh happy day. i wounder what's next, i suppose lay-offs or a cut in staffing. maybe we'll get an orange injected with sugar and a snicker bar for that one. oh, my gosh, i'll catch ya'all soon i have to run to the pot, i have the runs after eating the apple they gave us.

I always wonder who does this "voting" and how much hospital has to pay for it (like the magnet status). We have a huge billboard here on interstate, proclaiming that such and such hospital is on top of whatever, when everybody around knows what a hell hole this place really is, with low pay and dangerous pt ratios.

My last job was voted number on in the area also. For an Xmas bonus we got out holiday pay taken away, personal time cut to the point were we had to work for nearly 2months until we had time to take a day off. I often wonder how thie "vote" is tallied. The last staff survey we have, and keep in mind its a huge cooperation, was so bad that plan of correction was a daily word. Got a new job and like it much better!

What the heck is a Christmas bonus. The only thing that we get close to a Christmas bonus is if we have save our holidays in the bank. Like I can get through the year without using those holidays.

Christmas bonus what is that? Nurses week? ER nurses week? I work for very small rural hospital and we get nothing. We also get no overtime but the nurses on the regular floor have to take on call time all the time due to low patient census. As for all the titles your hospitlas have to pay for those.

If you want to know why I keep working offshore in Industrial Medicine, this is why. For our bonus this year, we all got $300 Seiko watches, engraved. For our weekly safety meeting prizes, they give away MP3 players, digital cameras, etc. I don't think I will ever go back to the hospital environment. Not as long as gas is $3/gallon. LOL
