  1. Most states will hold information sessions for the programs they certify and you can gain a lot of information there on books resources and meet other instructors in your area to connect with. Call your state and see when the next one might be
  2. There is no doubt LPN's are hard workers, skilled, and know their stuff. I was an LPN before becoming an RN and thought I did just the same job as an RN and knew the same things they did. Boy was I wrong. Once I got my RN I saw what education I was missing. You don't know what you don't know. There is a reason pay goes up with education. I am not saying LPN's aren't needed but there is a difference at the RN level. Just the same, I would never say a RN could do a NP's job.
  3. I havent looked at U of Alabama but will thanks for the tip! I looked at U of A too but I found little tuition help there and steep prices. Hope you have better luck than I!
  4. So I am finishing my MN degree and am looking for a PhD program that is online and will accept out of state students as instate students for tuition rates. Has anyone found one like this? It seems slim pickings out there. Also some programs want 4+ years of work even with an MN..... Schools like Pheonix Walden etc are not even something I would consider personally. Anyone found anything or going to a school who offers this with helpful tuition assistants? See I want it all :)
  5. I have a friend that was a surg tech for 8 years before she became an RN. She loved her job, LOVED it. But she had to leave surg tech because of the wear and tear on her body. She described having to sometimes stand for 8 hours with no break holding a retractor and needing to pee but can't leave. It was simply too much after all those years. Yeah you run around like crazy as an RN but you arent forced into one position for 8 hours. Just a thought.
  6. i don't live in georgia so i can't comment on the schools but i will say nursing school is very hard to get into. there are always more qualified applicants then spots available. sometime 300 plus qualified students and only 30 spots. my advice to all pre-nursing students is apply to all lpn, rn adn and rn bsn programs you qualify for. chances are you will be lucky if you get one acceptance your first time applying. take what you get offered and get into the nurse club. once you are an lpn or rn going on for further education becomes less competitive. i went cna-lpn-rn adn-rn bsn-rn msn, worked fine for me. had i waited around for only rn programs or rn bsn only i might still be waiting..... good luck! it will happen!!
  7. All nurses make mistakes. Any nurse who tells you they havent is lying. You are human just like the rest of us :)
  8. The problem with this statement is that HPV can be spread even if condoms are used. Therefore, even a smart educated young women will still be at risk of HPV. Having had high rish HPV myself and not wanting to get other forms of HPV I had the vaccine even being happily married. All the 'what ifs' is how I came to my decision. What if he cheats. What if I cheat. What if we divorce.... and so on I did very well with the vaccine, no problems. Fainting though is by far the largest complaint with the vaccine. It is reccomended that you stay seated for 15 minutes after the injection to avoid this side effect. To date no deaths or serious injury have been reported. My future daughters will be getting this vaccine.

I think once/if you go to LPN school you will see how different the education and scope of practice is. CMA are needed and provide a great service to healthcare but they are no nurse.
  10. I call after a few weeks to check in. Often, no one picks up Job markets just flat out sucks....
  11. I think any hair style that can be out of the way is best. I had long hair for years and finally went to a bob. I love my bob and styling it :) Best of all no pony tail needed and its never in my way. I do miss my length at times though!
  12. As I understand CPS will no act on a complaint about a fetus. Also consider the source. Perhaps the mother has a glass of wine every few nights.... not that I would consider that okay but still....
  13. It took me 3 years to get into nursing school and several years of preqs. I became a LPN at 24, an RN ADN at 24 (finished the program) and a RN BSN at age 25. I went to a bridge school and took as heavy a load as possible and completed my program in a year and a month (RN BSN program). It was so tough but glad I got it over! Hang in there, it seems like forever but its not. Once you are a RN BSN youll look back at the time and wonder where it all went. I do. Overall I spent 5 years to get my BSN.
  14. I was happy they touched on the fact that CRNA do not work under an MD license and show her striving for higher education. Although it was only a 10 second blurb. When it was over I thought, was that IT!!! Btw LOVE Ray was back on :) I love his character
