I was wondering who is applying for nursing school for the Fall 2006 semester.
My school allows us to hand in our transcripts for 3 weeks in March and the first batch of letters go out in May.
They only have 135 slots for the day and 50 for the evening. I will be applying for the day program since my gpa is not high enough for the evening (they say at least 3.7).
Good luck to everyone

I just want to cry. I got my letter today... and was rejected from the ASN program at Ivy Tech Columbus. I have a 4.0 GPA and scored in the 99th percentile on my TEAS test. I only have 3 prerequisites to complete. I would like to know what the top 40 who got accepted scored. I wrote an email to the school and they won't release the cut off scores. I can't help but think something screwy is going on. :angryfire I was just devastated, I felt like there was no way I wouldn't get in.
are you sure the policy wasn't that you needed all pre-reqs finished before applying?
Cry, it's ok. :)
If this is what you really want, complete those 3 classes, and apply again. Don't give up.

Jones, first of all I'm sorry you received that letter. I may be able to speak to your concern. I received an acceptance letter from Columbus today - but let me tell you what my scores are....I have all my pre-reqs done and A's in all of them. That means for class points I have 176/176 available. Then, on your TEAS scores, don't look at the percentile score. As far as Ivy Tech is concerned they are looking at the top-left-hand # on your results sheet that says "your score". Mine was 88.8% which rounded up to an 89. So out of 276 possible points, I had 265. I have been going through this whole process for going on two years and have heard and seen a lot of people get in and get waitlisted...most that I have personally known that got waitlisted only were missing 1-2 pre-reqs. ANP 201 is worth 32 points - that's a lot of points to be missing. Hang in there, though. Finish your pre-reqs and if you haven't already, retake the TEAS if you think you can improve your score. Most importantly - DO NOT GIVE UP! When the time is right, you will receive that golden ticket.
Best of luck,
T
I applied to 6 schools. 4 schools were ABSN- 1 already rejected me, 1 I still have one more pre-req left to take, 1 I am still waiting to hear from and 1 I got into the school but not the program The other 2, 1 of them is a community college where I got into the school but not the program and 1 is not in the program but the school. It seems like I will be sitting out for another year and take more pre-reqs and try to get in again. Its so stressful and costly as heckt!!
I know what you mean Purdue725 about the cost. Let's see. I only applied to one school this year (it's my see what happens) and I paid about 75 for application fees and transcript fees. And if I have to apply again next year I'll probably have to apply to more schools with more transcripts to send out. It all adds up when you don't have any money in the first place.

Hi Everyone:
I applied in Nov. for the Fall '06 semester and took my NET test the same month. I hate the waiting. Our school mails out letters in May and says to not contact them until the end of May if we don't hear from them. They have also implemented a new policy that pre-nursing students can only take the NET test once. YIKES!!! I was just curious to know from anyone that is already in a nursing program. What are the usual scorings of the NET test for people who get accepted. I had an overall composite of 84% and my reading comprehension was a 67%. Just curious. OOOHHHH the stomach churning!!! I can't wait for it to all be over and us all be in Nursing School!!!! Good luck to everyone in their classes this semester.
westheat, different schools require different scores. My program only requires at least 50% on the overall reading and 50% on the overall math in order to apply.
It isn't used as a ranking credential.
So, it's really hard to say. I know my grades were 88/math and 73 reading, which like yours were way above the national average...and way above the necessary 50% required for my program.
I hope yours is high enough for your program. :) Good luck!
BTW, our application didn't have a fee, so I'm lucky there, and I only applied to one school.
i suppose i should add myself to this list! i am applying to LPN programs for start dates in august.
so far, i have applied to two programs and i am waiting for the other two to start accepting applications. the programs have a deadline of either may 1st or june 1st and letters are mailed july 1st.
one program i am pretty much officially in, since i was one of the first applicants - it was first come, first served, as of march 1. the program requires the completion of a few online courses, health sciences core and anatomy & physiology. the problem is i have to pay out of pocket for these classes and it's about $700 and the program is about 45-60 mins away. if i get into one of the programs closer to my home, i won't need these pre-reqs and then i'll feel i wasted the $700.
the 2nd program, i turned in my application today. i still have to take the net on may 6 and interview with faculty on may 9th, but i don't feel i'll have a problem with either or getting into the program. this program is only 30 mins from home. i really want into this program!
the 3rd program is the closest to my home, only 15 mins away, but you can't even get the application until may 1st, the app is due june 1st, and it's by a lottery system. however, i've spoken to a graduate of this program and she highly recommended it, for it's great teachers and new technology.
the 4th program is about 25 mins away and i can't seem to get much info on it, except that it exists. i've tried contacting the enrollment specialist by phone, email and in person and i get no response and she's never around. maybe the program is having problems and i should forget it?
so i wish us all luck getting in this fall!
