I was wondering who is applying for nursing school for the Fall 2006 semester.
My school allows us to hand in our transcripts for 3 weeks in March and the first batch of letters go out in May.
They only have 135 slots for the day and 50 for the evening. I will be applying for the day program since my gpa is not high enough for the evening (they say at least 3.7).
Good luck to everyone

I'm waiting for my letter for the Fall semester, too. I called the school the other day and the receptionist told me that letters will be going out on the 17th of March, and if we don't receive them by the 23rd to call. This is agonizing. It's so funny because last year at this time I was waiting on a baby to come, she was due on the 17th of March. I could barely wait for her, so this wait is coming in at a close second. Thank God, I have a supportive husband, he's my biggest cheerleader. However, he does laugh when he sees me rush out to get the mail every day. Because he knows, too, that the letter isn't going to be here yet. But I just can't help myself.

My school only has about 10 spots per year for non LPN's and I can't even apply for the nursing program until nov., then it would be the following fall (2007) before I would even start the program. IF I were to get accepted on the first attempt. They use a point system/GPA scale to determine who gets those 10 spots and there is no waiting list, you just have to reapply each year. (almost as bad as the lottery system)
I applied today to a Hospital based(diploma) LPN program that starts this fall, I think it will make it quicker and easier to get from point A to point B.
I really hope I get in! I have to take the NET in two weeks. If I get in then I will try to enter the LPN to RN bridge program(ADN) as soon as I pass the NCLEX. If I don't get accepted I'll just keep taking classes, I'll probably go for my BSN because by the time I get into a degree program I will have taken EVERY class that is required for any nursing program
Good Luck to everyone, May we all get it:balloons:
I am also applying for Fall 2006. My GPA with all but Child Development and Oral Communications complete (should get A's in both) is a 3.51. There are 128 seats available for the evening classes and 1300 applicants. I am nervous as can be. The only good thing is that suppossedly my school uses a scale of completed classes to accept your application so a person with a 4.0 with only the pre-requisites done wouldn't get in before me but honestly who knows.
Nervous in New York. More like scared shitless in New York =).
i applied for fall 06 and got in. I totally understand what everyone is going through. I dont smoke or drink alcohol, so all i could while waiting for the mail is eat up all the junk food in the house. the day i got my letter i sat outside of the post office!!! the clerk probably thought i was nuts:uhoh3: well, my goal was to get in ( it took three tries because i didnt have all of my prereq's done) so now my goal is to get out. I am 30years old and i think this is the best time in my life to do this. Previously, i dont think i was focused enough (husband, kids were younger)
I am also waiting to hear from the Columbus, IN Ivy Tech, but was told that they have made their decisions and are sending letters out this week :uhoh21: . I am really anxious and dying to know if I got in. For anyone interested from the Columbus campus, access campus connect and leave a message for me in the forum under groups listed as Columbus Coffee Shop. It is a group I have just started, but no one has posted yet. I would like to meet some of the Columbus students, especially those pursuing nursing like me. I definitely hope my letter comes today.:balloons:

:flowersfo Here is some good luck that you get your letter today and that it is wonderful news!! Stdy2BaNurse is also waiting for her letter from the Columbus campus. I received my letter Feb.18 from the Lafayette campus and happy to say that I got in. After reading this thread, I feel blessed that I got my letter early.
GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE STILL WAITING!:flowersfo

I'll be attending in Fall 2006, too. I've already gotten my letter. Here in south Mississippi, it's a little different than some of the other posts I've been reading. How I wish there was such a thing as night courses. That would be a dream! We have only day courses, and there are only 50 spots! It sucks. Since Hurricane Katrina, though, so many people have moved that there's virtually no waiting list. I applied in early February and got my letter Feb 27th! Awesome! There used to be at least a one year wait. Anyway, I can't wait to get started.
