How far does everyone commute to work?

I live about 70 miles from where I work. It takes me an hour and 10 min to get to work. I leave about an 1 1/2 before worke so I spend about 3 hours getting and coming from work. I love the way to work. The drove home can be tough at times. I love where I work. All the local hospitals near me are owned by the same company and this is where I did clinicals. I would not consider working there for many reasons. So the drive for me is worth it. I would say a good portion of people who work where I do have at least a 30min drive, many even longer than that. So I guess you have to make a pro and con list from your own reasons and experiences. Good Luck to you!

Poll for those who have already taken NCLEX..

    1. how many questions did you take on nclex? 75 took me about 1.5 hours 2. what study materials did you use? did you take a test review course? no test review studied on my own and with some friends from saunders and the cd. the cd was really helpful. 3. did your son offer any testing (eri, ati, hesi)? ati 4. how long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting? 32 hours results were on the nursing board before quick results!!! went to the nursing board typed in my name and up popped a number and said active. then i screamed!! louder then when i found out i got into the nursing program. 5. what were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)? total disbelief, thought for sure that i failed. i was shocked! i thought i was prepared to feel as if i failed, but i was not prepared for i how i felt after the test. went shopping for scrubs and shoes for my new job and pigged out at steak n shake. 6. was this your first attempt at nclex? yes...and my last! i passed!!!!!!

PDA for Ivy Tech nursing program

I went to Ivy Tech Lafayette and purchased a PDA. (not required) I found it very helpful in looking info up on meds, diseases, procedures etc. I did not need to carry these books with me to clinicals. I purchased a high end model (at the time), palm Live Drive and purchased nursing central. (Im still paying for it, student loans!!) A lower priced model would have worked just as well for me, however. I was able to download homework to it and work on it from where ever I was at. Once my kids were playing at a McDonalds and I was able to get online and finish up a research project. Once you get a job, some hospitals let you download patient information, such as labs etc. (obviously at work only) I never go anywhere without it. LOVE it!!

    Nursing school reflection

Enjoyed your post. Second semester here and my head is definitely spinning! (Does is ever stop?)
  11. I am a first year second semester nursing student. Were are almost half way through our second semester. My confidence level was poor at the beginning of the semester. I thought with the more experience I got in clinical, my confidence level would improve. It has not. It seems to get a little worse everyday. If I do not improve on this right away it will do me in. I am psyching myself out and my work is suffering. How do I improve this? Can I improve this? I keep thinking I will not make it through school and let everyone down that is counting on me. (My husband and children) I feel like I am not learning the same stuff everyone else is. Everyone else seems to have it all together and I feel totally stupid. Any suggestions on how to improve my self-confidence would be greatly appreciated.

Any one else ever feel this way?

I am in my second semester also and feel TOTALLY CLUELESS! My careplan was due today and I did not finish it not sure if I can even get it done by friday. I have been up since 4:00 wednesday morning. I am seriously thinking about quitting and getting a job in healthcare and trying again next year. This whole nursing diagnosis crap is driving me nuts. I just dont get it! I have read the threads on careplans and have several books and it is just not clicking. Im so tired now I think I would have trouble understanding anything! Anyway thanks for listening to me rammble.

    Failed first test of semester

I feel your pain! I too failed the first test of the semester, as did most of the class. The class average was 70%. It was very disheartening! We only have 7 tests and THE FINAL FROM HELL (according to the nursing class ahead of us). I am waiting on pins and needles for my grade of the second test that we took today. I bought some Nclex review books to study from. We shall see if that has helped any. Good Luck to you and keep looking for a way to study that works well for you.
