Television does not provide the proper respect due the profession.
Over the years their have been a few actors that have done justice to the role of nurse.
Who is your favorite TV or movie Nurse?
Micheal Learned on "Nurses", which was on the air back in the late 70's or early 80's. One of the best actresses that ever was, or ever will be, in my book.
ABSOLUTELY! That is my favorite and I told my mother this one day. She looked at me in utter shock and said...well I hope so, she is a cousin on her side of the family somehow (can't quite remember...I am so bad with names anyway, let alone the huge family we have..LOL! Oh yeah, I feel so stupid at family reunions!!! LOL, I wear a name badge! LOL! But Learned is my mothers moms maiden name...duh how could I miss that! LOL!).

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but over the Christmas break, my Mom informed me that she is Blythe Danner's second cousin. I have a cousin who I have always thought looks like Gwyneth Paltrow.
I've always liked Nurse Hoolihan from Mash. Also the nurse from China Beach. Recently I saw a movie I think called 14 hours? something like that about being in the middle of a hurricane in a hospital in Texas when the power goes out. I liked the head nurse on that show. I watched it three times! :)

I saw that. I live in a town close to Houston. During that storm, we received 18 transfers from the Medical Center-yikes! The level of care those patient's needed was higher than what we were used to. A lot of ortho patient's with multiple fx, etc... a day to remember that's for sure!

I loved the nurse in the movie Pearl Harbor, the one who ended up marrying Ben Affleck? I'm so tired from work I can't even remember her character's name. But she managed to be ballsy without being a battleaxe, and during the raid on Pearl Harbor she just exuded professional skill and serenity. Amazing performance.

I liked a few TV nurses- Julie London from Emergency( outdated for today's nursing, she was strong and could handle those doctors); Carol Hathaway from ER when the show was in it's first year; Jill Danko from the Rookies played by Kate Jackson; Colleen Mcmurphy and Margarit Hoolahand- very smart and dedicated to their jobs under extreme circumstances. :balloons:
