Introduce yourself here :)
I am back for my fourth year working as a school nurse. Urban elementary charter school in Massachusetts. Kids start school Monday. Back to School night is tonight. I have been back since Monday.
Staff goes back Aug. 28th, Kids come Sept. 4th. Will be my 4th year. I've been to the office once to rearrange, put away supplies that were delivered over the summer, and unload all the stuff that was stored in there during construction that no longer has a home. We were pretty much banished from the building since there was demolition going on all summer, no power, ect. Still aren't fully allowed to come and go until probably next week. But I've been checking in here to get my head back in the game!!
Today was the first day for students. It's now well into second period and my office is eerily quiet. Spent all of the pre-bell and homeroom time receiving meds and such and took most of first period to get everything logged and put away. Now I'll wait to see what the first customer is. Hopefully, it will remain quiet until my diabetic students come in for their lunchtime ritual.
Yesterday went better than expected. A lot of stuff came in during the morning and I did my three student caths in the afternoon without interruption.
Back again! Entering my 1.5 year even though it feels like 10 at this point. lol
We started 2 weeks ago and it has been chaos. Students with no documented food allergies showing up with epi pens, all the biters, Parents forging shot records...and I'm seeing 40 littles a day already.
BUT I'm still happy to be here. :) I'm officially showing now. I had a little one tell me I gained a lot of weight this summer, but then said congratulations when I mentioned it's a baby in there. lol
