I didn't see a recent thread on this topic recently, so I figured I would ask: which EHR do you all use? do you like it, recommend it, etc?
My hospital system (inpatient and outpatient) uses Epic. I love it. I love the CareEverywhere feature... a lot of the local hospital systems use Epic as well so we can get records easily. I work in a specialty so a lot of the patients come with no records or for a second opinion so it is nice to have access quick. My hospital system also has primary care so when our patient's PCP is part of our network it is so nice b/c everything is there. I also like having access to the other specialties instantly. We also have a patient portal that gives them access to their lab tests etc and they can securely email us through the system and it automatically populates in the medical record. They can even securely email us pictures of their post op wound appearance if they have concerns (can often save a visit) and THAT automatically is entered into the patient chart. We also have a way for our secretaries to leave us patient phone messages through the system where we can automatically start a note in their chart with the message automatically cut/pasted. Electronic med perscribing is very easy and the pharmacies can send us refill requests (which automatically populate in the patient's chart) as well. They entered our signatures into the system so when we write letters etc, we can sign in our EMR and fax in our EMR without having to print out anything. Same with faxing records to PCP etc, easy to do through that system. Our hospital system has optimized its use over the years but I definitely like it. I do not have experience with other systems so it is hard for me to compare. My OBGYN and allergist have EMR too but, just watching the staff use it, it looks clunky.
I've used Paragon, Meditech, and Epic. Epic is by far the best of the three. Paragon is absolutely horrible- I would not work at a facility again that uses Paragon; in fact, I make it point to ask about what charting system the hospital uses during interviews after having to use it! Paragon is incredibly time consuming to chart even one thing, crashed frequently, not user friendly whatsoever.

I live within an hour of epic (it's a small city itself!) my BFF throughout school works there in payroll. In June they hired 500 new employees. On July 1, 700 new employees. Clearly there are many facilities using epic :)
