There is one hospital in Ruston, LA that needs help. Warning though, LA low paying, but cost of living is low too. It is a nice college town.

When you say NEPA, do you mean Wilkes Barre

Large areas of Virginia *outside* the urban crescent of NOVA-Richmond-Hampton Roads still have jobs that are easily obtainable. Bonus: compared to other states, such as Nevada or the plains, you are relatively speaking not in the middle of nowhere.

When relocating for a nursing position, the wise job seeker would be mindful of the current oil bust that is affecting the local economies of certain oil-rich cities and states.
Minot and Williston, ND were boom-towns for oilfield jobs for the past few years and its local economy flourished. Now that the cost of a barrel of oil is way down, unemployment is spiking. This is a sign of a local economy that was not diversified.

Y'all beat me to it....
However, other places are suffering. Some cities in ND are hurting, and the oil-rich state of Alaska will start making residents pay state income taxes for the first time ever. Prior to this, the state had been riding off the coffers generated by oil money.

Chicagoland needs nurses?? I'm very surprised! Is that hospitals can't retain them or people aren't applying?
At my hospital in the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic, we can't retain since my union hospital has poor working conditions but there are other non-union hospitals in my area that are ok. We have more Diploma/ADN/BSN schools than any other city, I'll bet and yet, we still need to hire travelers and per diem. Not good.

Middle of nowhere southern Georgia - Valdosta, Thomasville, Hahira, Waycross, Fitzgerald, etc. I got my start in nursing down there.

There's no shortage of nurses here, the problem is hospitals and facilities don't want to hire ENOUGH nurses.
Therefore, many places have multiple openings, but a good percentage of the staff bolts as soon as they can.
